'20 Recruiting Forum: Official South Carolina Pregame/Game Thread

We need to come out and start the season looking like a Tennessee football team. I need to see that before I can honestly say that I have any expectations. Even if we lose, we need to look like we're capable of getting out of our own way.

I want to see a 2006 opener again. We demolished the Cal Bears from kickoff.

Hate to say it, w/o JG and those leaders we dont have any momentum heading into '20.

It was a whole team affair
Bingo! His don’t quit when the going gets tough attitude helps add to the culture that Pruitt has instilled in this program. That in and of itself can be worth some wins down the road, because the whole team buys into it. I really hope the young man overcomes everything and shows out this year to shut everybody up. I was against him early on last year too, but When that young man came back and played with screws in his wrist to help the team win, I couldn’t pull against him. That is what being a Vol is all about… Giving your all no matter what.

JG, Show out tomorrow night and all season, young man! Most of us are pulling for you.

But we didn’t and won 6 straight to finish the season.

He still can't make a quick decision with the football, and he only makes one read if its there the play can work. He excels at man coverage because he can just throw it up and let the WR get it. His best play has always been a play where the WR can high point the ball or the back shoulder.

I expect him to play decent against SC because they play man coverage almost exclusively, but if they show him a zone and get any pressure on him, it's over and he will make mistakes with the football.

Maybe the comment CJC made about him not understanding the route progression might have been the issue with zone coverage. If they have worked on the route progression understanding this might show up as better QB play against zone coverage.

It's the day before game day. We all know JG's weaknesses. We all know who thinks there is no possible way that he overcomes them. We all know who is waiting to see if he does. We all know AV said he has a short leash if he doesn't...... Let's talk about another player.

L ooking forward to seeing what we have tomorrow night. Will the 5th year turn the lightbulb on in JG's head? Will our receivers step up? Will our front 7 on D be tough and pressure the QB? Don't know what to expect. Based on rosters I know what should happen. But I've thought that before and been sadly mistaken.
