Call me crazy but Id rather go against Mullen at UF year in and year out vs Frost at UF. Mullen is still a scary thought at UF too though.
I know it's sort of transitive property type stuff, but here's my thinking on Jimbo vs. Mullen... In going from a program with great recent success in a conference where he regularly has a greater talent advantage to UT, I think it's reasonable to expect an average net loss of two wins per year from Jimbo's average record at FSU. Whereas with Mullen, I think going from a perennial doormat in one of the toughest divisions in the sport could end up with a net gain of two wins per year over his current average at MSU. In that, I'll take Mullen.
As for Frost... If he proceeds to win the rest of the games on his schedule by two scores, which looks very possible, that's the kind of dominance Urban Meyer showed before going to Florida. I know it is the American East Confernece, but dominance is dominance, and he is dominating the American East with an American East team.
That's why I pay very little attention to the media. They target where they think they can get the most mileage and you can't do much better then UT in that area. We eat this stuff up and keep stirring and stirring.
I still think Mullen is playing for more money and continued upgrades in facilities at MSU. As it stands now, he's got his foot on Ole Miss's throat for in-state recruiting and a fanbase that is a lot more appreciative than Florida's.
MSU - 8-4 - Extension!
Florida - Back to Back SEC championships - Y U NO CHAMPIONSHIP!
You're living in a fantasy land if you think the SEC is above and beyond the B10 or ACC.
Firing Mac seems insane to me. Do they really think they can do it with cause? They would have a really weak case. Seems like he could take legal action and get his full buyout.
Would also set a really bad precedent. Does the next guy want to worry about getting axed after winning the East two years in a row and the AD doing its best to screw him out of his buyout in the process?
Ive watched Tennessee embarrass 3 teams from that conference past 3 years. Slow as mud. Cake walk for faster teams.
Doesnt matter though. You have a crush on them and arent willing to consider the teams outside the top few dont have the talent to compete with real teams. Not like that in the SEC. WAY more talent down here. Coaching is down in the SEC right now though.
