My gut tells me he will be at Arkansas next year.

I remember when he was with the Raiders he was wanting that Arkansas job pretty bad. If he would mature a little bit, which is a big if, he would do very well IMO.

He’s a real football coach. Would hire a great staff. Knows the south. Proven recruiter. Experience at a big time program.

Also, one thing I always think about is the fact that almost every coach starts having trouble sustaining success at the same place beyond 8-10 years.

Saban is the exception. Everyone else seems to have a window to work in and then it’s probably best to get out and reset.

Stoops was an exception too. I wonder why so many coaches can't sustain that level of success over an extended period of time, though?

Not a fan of Jimbo. If he can't have sustained success at FL State, don't see him having it here. His stock is taking a bit of a dive at the present IMO.

1 bad year doesn’t negate 7 years of sustained success.

That’s like saying Butch had sustained success because he went 9-4 in 2015.

What about 80-22 with six seasons in which he's won 10 or more games over an 8 year period? I wouldn't put Jimbo in my top 5 coaches in CFB but he'd definitely be in my top 10. I just think it would be hard to hire a guy with a record much better than that, realistically speaking.

He’s been in two playoffs. Won a natty. Had double digit wins every year but 2 (this year and had 9 his first year). That is sustained success.

Not saying he's not done well in the past, I just think we've seen his best and his trajectory is downward.

The east isn't as good as it was once was no doubt and the West as it was just a couple of years ago. But we're looking at time spans that include when the sec was significantly better. Three years ago the ACC had two teams.
