Hes a real football coach. Would hire a great staff. Knows the south. Proven recruiter. Experience at a big time program.
Also, one thing I always think about is the fact that almost every coach starts having trouble sustaining success at the same place beyond 8-10 years.
Saban is the exception. Everyone else seems to have a window to work in and then its probably best to get out and reset.
I would think a record of 2-5 wouldn't be sustained success. But that's me.
1 bad year doesnt negate 7 years of sustained success.
Thats like saying Butch had sustained success because he went 9-4 in 2015.
He won three conference titles in a row and hasn't in the last three and won't this year. All this with really ne significant conference foe, maybe two in some years. Also, take into account his players have historically gotten away with murder. I'm not impressed with Jimbo.
What about 80-22 with six seasons in which he's won 10 or more games over an 8 year period? I wouldn't put Jimbo in my top 5 coaches in CFB but he'd definitely be in my top 10. I just think it would be hard to hire a guy with a record much better than that, realistically speaking.
Please stop acting like te SEC is the same juggernaut conference as 10 years ago and every other conference is trash.
