People need to keep in mind Florida is firing their coach today because they are trying to weasel out of the buyout. They can’t wait til December to fire him with cause for something he did in October.

The timing has everything to do with $12.9m and ZERO to do with being the first to enter the coaching search or demanding more wins from their coach.

Falling on deaf ears.
At this point, I'm just hoping we get a good "my little cousin was playing with my phone" out of a ring leader, once the "head start" theory is debunked.

If they're smart they use the credit card fraud

I saw the post where LWS said they are worried about players going to class and staying together. Gillespie would have 0 issues making that happen imo. He is a guy that will be wanted by schools all over the country and won’t have to spend a bunch of time finding a new job. He seems to have the respect of all of his guys as well. Jmo

^^^This all day! I'm not in the Athletic Department and I've never played a down of college football. For the life of me I can not understand any situation where there is an advantage to keeping him.

Bruin is right here. Timing means next to nothing. Firing butch in October vs thanksgiving wouldn’t mean anything regarding who we hire.

Again, each coaching hiring cycle stands alone. You don’t know that you are simply guessing, which is fine.

Could you be right, yes. Could you be wrong, yes.

LWS and the players going or not going to class argument is just another in a long list of really stupid thinking by whoever. Do you really want a roster of players that are not intelligent enough to figure out they need to go to classes to make grades to play? Seriously. Do you need to send assistants by to wake them up, shower them, lay their clothes out for them, feed and burp them? In fact, that may actually be a symptom of the problem the roster has now. If that's the type of guys Butch has been recruiting it's no wonder we are where we are combined with his pathetic coaching.

Our BEST player isn’t smart enough to not smoke pot in his car with a busted headlight.

THANK YOU.
This all day... I read that LWS crap earlier and thought, the kids are there to get an education and play football... ON SCHOLARSHIP. It's pretty simple, don't go to class and don't make your grades = no football and no scholly and you go home... Doesn't matter who is the coach.

He'll get all or most of his buyout. Exaggerating death threats is 1) not really prove-able and 2) not serious enough to forfeit an entire buyout.

True. Florida isn’t going to be dumb enough not to pay him his buyout, and McElwain would be super soft to take much of a discount on it (though maybe a little bit). Nonetheless, the optics and narrative is all about Florida trying to stiff him, which is good for us.

People hype gillespie up too much. He’s a running backs coach. Your main job is to recruit guys so good that they don’t need coaching. That job is 95% recruiting.

Got to disagree strongly with this one. Granted it's the easiest position to adapt to with the ball in their hands. But you know there is more to the position than just running with the ball. A lot of guys never play because they can't/won't block or learn to read the blitzes, can't/won't run the pass patterns right and can't catch the ball (in their hands), can't read where the creases and cut backs are, don't know ball security, need their running style adapted to their physical skills/speed (stiff hips, no wiggle), etc.

Gillespie is good at what he does. Watched him do it several camp practices in the last couple of years. The big thing with him is all of the guys respect him. He communicates well and knows his stuff.

A large number of players ended up on academic probation after Dooley was fired.
According to reports, the players were "completely out of control" his last week. Supposedly missed weeks in the S&C program aftetwards also.

Not disagreeing but that’s why he is being fired now. They are gonna look to save all or some.

Nothing to do with more wins? Really?

They found an opportunity to weasel out of the 12.9m payout and get rid of a coach that hasn't been up to their standards of what Florida football should be.

You may be praising Florida but coaches aren't.... who wants to go somewhere where winning your division your first 2 years isn't enough then they try to rob your buyout by not backing you over death threats that we all know all coaches get.......may not go over as well some think. Frost seems like a guy that would be turned off by such a move
