True. Florida isnt going to be dumb enough not to pay him his buyout, and McElwain would be super soft to take much of a discount on it (though maybe a little bit). Nonetheless, the optics and narrative is all about Florida trying to stiff him, which is good for us.
Unfortunately, the only history our AD and donors have exhibited is that they are afraid to make a meaningful decision and are not willing to pay big dollars to try to make us elite again.Or he knows nothing other than he is smart enough to have seen how these things have gone down in the past.
You guys remember Texas fans raising all kinds of hell while LsU sat smugly by thinking they had their guy?????!
Is this board not smart enough to learn from the history of these type things?
Anyone think these comments from Hubbs has purpose? Remember, hes the mouthpiece of the UTAD. He makes his money and gets his info to break things because he speaks what they want him to speak.
Im thinking hes setting up Currie with all of these comments wanting to know what hes doing and needing to make a statement...setting him up for the grand slam when he names the new coach (basing this off of it being Gruden), and Currie being an instant legend to the fanbase.
Hubbs said it was a matter when not if.
Hyams has all but said its over and he will NEVER cross that line. He got as close as he will ever get.
247 guys and the undercard at VQ all agree.
What else do you want?
Well, one thing we will all know-- if he doesn't "trot" out an A list guy, he will be on an even hotter seat than Butch and will look like a fool. The fanbase will make his life miserable... ball is in his court now with FL making a decisive move... makes him look like an idiot unless he's got someone locked up.
Im ready for it to be finished just like everyone else.
All that matters though is the hire. Firing early means zero and Florida skirting around a buyout doesnt help them. It hurts them.
The next hire is what matters.
That said I would have fired him after UGA.
