Recruiting Forum: UNofficial Georgia Pre-Game Thread

Just saw an ACC official call a penalty on a Fla. State player for running after giving the fair catch signal. Does that mean that it's illegal in the ACC and not the SEC or that the SEC has some really stupid, sorry officials? If a Tennessee player had done the same thing the same official would have called a penalty against us. That's just the way they do it.

The play calling was definitely a mixed bag. There were some big problems in places, especially in the passing game. One thing did get added to the running game though that I was happy to see. I liked the pistol and wildcat packages with Hurd. He looked good running straight downhill at the line. For some reason we were great at running that shotgun draw too.

Now just draw up some package plays for North in space.

The correct answer is b.

And the holding penalty against North. If that was holding, then OU did that all night against us. He never had his hands outside the defender, and that literally happens on every play. I truly don't understand it.

Yeah, I thought that was a horrible call, too. The holds against OU were much more blatant! I'm done with the officiating, BUT we still had too many chances to win this game, even with bad officiating. Georgia will lose at least one more time this year...maybe 2. I just don't think they are that great...outside of Gurley. That kid can play!

UGA Rushing - 289 on 53 attempts = 5.45 YPC

Gurley rushing - 208 on 28 attempts = 7.4 YPC

Non-Gurley - 81 on 35 attempts = 2.31 YPC

UT Rushing - 117 on 34 attempts = 3.44 YPC

Hurd rushing - 119 on 24 attempts = 4.96 YPC

Non-Hurd - -2 on 10 attempts = -.2 YPC

Gurley is good. He sheds tackles like they are nothing. However, if you take away his 51 yd TD our D did a pretty good job of limiting his big plays. He had several big runs, mostly in the second half, but the D did a good job. They effectively made Gurley put UGA on his back and carry them. Plenty I be upset about but more to be encouraged by as well.

Jimmy Hyams is aggravated at officiating, too. This makes two games where we got screwed.. (I also recall Gurley committing a facemask as he was scoring)

If we want to talk blown calls that changed the game, on the punt that was downed at the one Sutton signaled fair catch to draw attention and was hit (albeit not hard). By rule it's a personal foul to hit a returner that signals fair catch whether they catch the ball or not.

Question- saw this mentioned in the other forum. Why does the clock start after an offensive holding inside 2 minutes? That is a killer. Gives the offense an incentive to hold. Doesn't make sense.

Yea I remembered that too. I was thinking maybe they said the wrong number bc north didnt do anything wrong.

Would you want it to not start if you were the defense in a 2 minute drill situation? Can't have it both ways unless you want to give the defense an option.

North was holding, but I agree. I've seen much worse go uncalled.

If so, then when you watch the replay, tell me what the OL did to JRM on Gurley's long TD run. Seriously, I would like to know what the difference is. Again, I never played, but watched a lot of football. Don't know the difference.

The truth is they could call holding on every play, they just selectively call it.

I had forgot about that one. I screamed at the TV when it happened and no flag was thrown (didn't do any good) and Cam was doing the make believe flag throw thing to get the officials attention (that didn't do any good either).

Genuine question, did Worley keep it at all this game? Was between birthday parties so I didn't get to see every play.

Who gives a damn what the rest of the nation does or thinks?
Here's how I look at it, teams that are genuinely not supposed to win the game should rush the field after a home win. I think we can win. Hence, rushing the field against a team that had a worse record than us last year makes our program look more desperate than we really are.

Jmo though. I'll be at the game and if the rush starts happening, I will likely join.

Again, who gives a damn how desperate we look to anybody outside of our program and our fan base? Win games, have fun, **** everybody else.
