Recruiting Forum: UNofficial Georgia Pre-Game Thread

I have the opposite thoughts. I wonder if Butch is the coach who is going to get the right players in here, get them motivated, but the in-game coaching will be lacking. I don't know and it's too early to tell, but that's my biggest concern.

So you're worried that Butch is Ron Zook?

I think it's almost impossible to tell when we have to play the amount of freshmen that we do. Even though lack of experience isn't an excuse for losing, it's a lot harder to make in-game adjustments and other wrinkles when freshman and a whole new O line are a lot more likely to make mistakes
This is the truth. As I said, it's way too early to tell. That's just my biggest fear and could end up causing us to be a team that is very good but never great.

I knew that wouldn't be well received. Laugh all you want, but that is my only real concern with Butch. I think very highly of him, I just wonder if that could end up being an issue.

Just got back from the stadium. My reaction:

Well ****.

Almost had it. Peterman coming in was the worst time. Worley controls this offense very well. We should beat Florida.

If Butch getsthe talent in here and his assistants are a weak link to success, I don't think he'll hesitate to replace them. He can't start replacing coaches now because it would be unfair being that we are limited by the roster. When he gets all the horses in the house and the team underperforms, I don't think he'll hesitate to fix it. Replacing coaches because we're not beating the GAs and OKs of the world is stupid right now. All JMO

True, but I wouldn't say that les miles is a fantastic at making in-game adjustments. In the college game, recruiting and getting players to believe and motivated is more important than X's and O's.

Yeah. I think you just have a more positive outlook on that than I do. I agree it's probably not something worth even thinking about this early. I just wonder if that could be a long term issue.

Someone mentioned it earlier but it ALWAYS seem like we get ripped off when it comes to officiating. OU game (the fumble & no holding calls. UGA game (fair catch where he started to run and the refs gave some lame excuse saying his momentum carried him fwd, penalty before the half which butch jones said it was bulls**t & the intentional grounding when we had 2 receivers near the pass.)

Great and very valid points!

I don't care what any of you jokers say, if we beat UF next weekend (and I will believe it when I see it) we better rush that field. The team would love that imo

Tired of what? The play calling?

Mainly officiating, but don't understand some of the play calling either. We are flashes of good sequences then it's like we outsmart ourselves and run "exactly what they'll expect, so maybe they won't expect it."

Don't you think he may be limited in his play calling by the roster? Particularly the OL? I've been frustrated by the play calls as much as anyone but he is having to use smoke and mirrors a lot. The only thing that bothers me is the use of the zone read play. Even if it's a called run play it is still a delayed hand off and gives the DL even more time to exploit the line. If the QB is never going to keep it just give the ball to the back with a full head of steam.

And the holding penalty against North. If that was holding, then OU did that all night against us. He never had his hands outside the defender, and that literally happens on every play. I truly don't understand it.
