Recruiting Forum: UNofficial Georgia Pre-Game Thread

Just go ahead and make the Florida Pregame thread.

This loss is sickening. Not because we lost, but we had plenty of opportunities and could not capitalize. Seems eerily familiar to last years game.

This is exactly my feelings. It's hard for me to feel good about the result of that because we had so many chances to win. It's not like previous years where we were out-talented and never really honestly had a shot. Georgia isn't that much better, if even better than us at all. They did all they could to give us the game and we couldn't take advantage.

I know we're improving and I'm glad. These losses are much harder to take than in previous years because we're good enough to win. We just blew it.

Keep in mind we have two major playmakers out. When they return we add more ammunition. I just hope Worley's injury doesn't turn into something more significant.

I keep forgetting about Von and Smith being out. Hopefully they'll return next week. Regardless, I hope our team takes out some frustrations on the gators next week.

Where did I say he made a mistake?

Georgia just made a good play there. Nothing you can do. This dosn't change the fact that this play was probably the most important play of the game.

Well, in one of your original posts, you said "letting them down it at the one" was costly and it was among your criticism of the special teams. I can only assume that you meant it was a bad play. No other way that I can read it. It was just a good play by them, not a mistake on our part. Special teams were very good today. We needed to capitalize on the turnovers- that lost us the game.

I turn that around and use it as a response to your "if" scenario....same thing could be said, its a loss. If you are going to call mine silly then yours is just as silly as mine haha

Negative. Things I named will be an issue every single week, whether its a win or a loss.

Fumble in FG range and fumble in our endzone were the two plays, if we want to single them out.
Would be hard to argue with either of those. The punt may not have been most important, but it's up there for sure. You could throw the fumble of Georgia's that we failed to recover in there too.

I just feel like the drive from our 1 was doomed from the start. Even if Hurd doesn't fumble, best case it's 3rd and 10 from our own 1.

I admitted in the post you quoted that I worded that poorly and explained what I meant.

I may be overreacting because of emotion and make it sound worse than it is. But the special teams were far from very good.

We will just disagree. Special teams did not lose the game, and Gurley did not return one. We did not miss a FG. That is a win in that category.

I was at work and didn't get to see but about half the game. It seems like we are showing real improvement every game. This is the first time in years that when I say, we'll get them next game" I actually believe it.

Can't wait to get into Neyland next week.

Worley still hasn't connected on a deep ball this year. The Pig TD might be considered deep I guess, but it's getting to where I'm worried about it after 4 games of overthrowing every single deep ball. He's been excellent as far as accuracy goes otherwise though.

Never seen it used before, but maybe this was a "moral defeat". The players see that even though they lost the game they could have won it without a couple of mistakes and without dumb penalties. This hopefully will open their eyes and they'll see what it takes to win these games.

The touchdowns to Pig and Croom were deep, IMO. He's still far from consistent with the deep ball though.

Now that I think about it, he is consistently inaccurate on the deep ball.

He's money on the shorter passes though.

He had two in this game.

I thought we'd lose by 2 or 3 touchdowns today. That's not being negative that's just recognizing where the two programs are. I've always thought we needed a coach that could do more with less. I think we're seeing that. Just wait till he's playing with a full deck of cards.

The one to pig for the TD was a thing of beauty. Over the LB caught him 8n stride.

I have the opposite thoughts. I wonder if Butch is the coach who is going to get the right players in here, get them motivated, but the in-game coaching will be lacking. I don't know and it's too early to tell, but that's my biggest concern.

Do you honestly believe we are on an equal level talent wise with GA especially when you consider experience?

I think it's almost impossible to tell when we have to play the amount of freshmen that we do. Even though lack of experience isn't an excuse for losing, it's a lot harder to make in-game adjustments and other wrinkles when freshman and a whole new O line are a lot more likely to make mistakes
