i agree but i think you have to look at opponent here. mizzou is very weak on offense and pretty decent on defense.
we literally played like texas A&M on defense. missing tackles everywhere. sure they were on the field more often but mizzou's offense is awful.
our offensive playcalling was suspect and the game plan seemed to just ignore the fact that theyve got great pass rushers. at the end of the day i think dobbs could have avoided a few more sacks than he did and the offensive line could have played better. whats more the coaches should have called on von pearson to get some other things going on offense. mizzou's defense is just incredibly disciplined and plays very, very smart.
We set a record for true freshmen started in a game and play the likely SEC East champs to a 1 possession game. It's the small things.
I do with what I have seen with Dobbs now. Earlier in the year, I would have agreed. But if we play an above average DL or worse, Dobbs is good enough. We may still struggle with elite defensive lines. Give me wins against 3 bad OOC games, UK, Vandy, Arkansas, and USC. Let's play ball with the others, and our defensive line will be much improved to slow them down. JMO.
Here is the deal on D. We missed the emotional AND the leading tackler on the D tonight. The Germanator did not lead the team and play sideline to sideline tonight. That is not a knock on him but he is not at this point as a freshman = to a guy who was on track to be a high NFL draft pick. The D missed A.J. tonight and it is not even open for debate. It killed this team tonight in production and spirit.

I underestimated how much we would miss him. Somebody will have to step up next year.
Did you see Arky dismantle OM today? I bet Arky play MO much better than we did and may just beat them.
True. But offense has to score a TD before end of 4Q when other team is in prevent and letting you have it. Especially with the awesome field position Berry and Darr gave us over and over.
Defense didn't lose this one. Was just like ole miss, if offense can't do anything, D will eventually give up points.

Arkansas' strength is on the OL. Our DL will be much better next year. Our OL should be ok with their DL. They are better, but we get them at home. Those are the games that we have to start winning. I just believe the OL will be better with Dobbs next year. Not elite but better and that should win us another game or two.
I don't understand y foreman came out of the game. And I love the cold! I also don't know how Coleman plays one on one. I'd rather try gaulding or anyone else. Coleman freezes up EVERYTIME. Losing AJ hurt and it showed tonight.
Fortunately the staff will likely have the Vandy game, a bowl game, spring practice and fall practice to figure that out. I really think him being out will be a blessing in disguise that gives us a head start on playing without him next year.
Edit:
I got Burgered...
Coleman has to play one on one when they go four or five wide. Good coaching on the other side. We also had two LB's in no man's land on that play. They were 8 yards off the ball with no one around them.
We'll see I guess but I just can't fathom this Oline making much of a jump at all.

More impressed that you got that angle.
Hats off to Medley and Darr. We won special teams tonight.
