Recruiting Forum: UNofficial Mizzou Pre-Game Thread

It was really close. I will definitely concede that but he was the one called offside from my perspective. Go back and watch it live.

Oh I rewound it right after the flag. He didn't move much and was lined up close. But he was just leaning.

This game in a nutshell:

Missouri had 8-10 grown men rotating on their DL. A few of them future NFL players. Our OL was exposed like earlier in the year.

Our older defensive backs got beat in one-on-one matchups. That's been our defensive Achilles heel all season.

This is fixed one way...a few cycles of recruiting.

The coaching staff could have been better...
The refs made a couple of debatable calls...

But we lost this game by being whipped at the LOS and with the 50/50 ball in the air.

We need to quit reaching. We had chances to win but we didn't. Mizzou grabbed our nuts and squeezed them. They are mentally tough and we are mentally weak. Give credit where it is due. Beat Vandy and get a bowl and start building toward next year. Why do I get excited just to be let down? Because I love the f***ing TN Vols. GO BIG F***ING ORANGE.

No matter what way you look at it, he wasn't offside and you don't call that there. Never. It's the wrong call and of course it goes against us.

Medley kicked Tha ball already.
The ball has already turned over on the ground.
Same shot with JRM.

Someone posted a shot earlier where you see down the line. My argument is that it was not called on Medley but rather on JRM. I agree, it's real close. The ref did not give a number.

That's the same picture just zoomed in on the ball to show that it taken was after it was kicked. Hence not offsides.

Again, missing my point. It's real close and it was called on him. Close enough to call. The isn't Gurley with 3 extra yards on a spot obvious.

Yes it was close. No, it shouldn't have been called. He crossed immediately after the ball was kicked.

Mizzou's DL lost us the game. That bunch controlled the LOS all night. Our offense couldn't do anything.

This and the play calling didn't help. I would bet 85% of our plays were either behind the line or aT the line of scrimmage. We never consistently challenged the to play more than 5 yards of the LOS.

I'll take the Mississippi State route to finish the year. Win 6th game in final chance, become bowl eligible. Draw an inferior opponent in the Liberty Bowl, beat them up. Show up next season with marked improvement.

It didn't matter what we called that DL was all over the place. There isn't a better DL in the nation. Kuligowski is one of the best in the business...of not THE best.

Don't know where the marked improvement will come from on OL. Got three juniors/RS juniors getting killed. Maybe the freshmen will be better.

Otherwise, I'd like our chances to get to ATL.

Agreed that play-calling could've been better but, in fairness, it's hard to playcall with such a leaky line

It will be nice when we have a legitimate rotation on the DL. Watching Missouri tonight made me jealous...haha.

Right now Barnett and Maggitt have to play way too many snaps. Vareen is solid but after him we don't have many guys getting many snaps. At DT we are rotating 3 guys...O'Neil, Williams and Williams.

This is the best pass rush we have had in years but it is feast or famine. We either get the sack or get stonewalled at the LOS. By 2016 we should have a very talented 8-10 guys on the DL.

Play call some help with the TEs

I really think their DL substantially hurt our TE passing game. Why? Because their LBs didn't have to over commit to the run nor did they have to blitz. They could sit in that intermediate area where our TEs usually do their best work.

Good reports from Blair coming out, Kendrick looked serviceable this year and will be better next year, move Kerbyson inside where he belongs, Robertson is a year better. Wildcard could be someone like Richmond coming in and taking a tackle spot as a freshman.
