Recruiting Forum: UNofficial Ole' Miss Pre-Game Thread

Irregardless this offense is pathetic and is regressing not improvimg as you'd expect a well coach team to do. The opposing coaches have figured this O out and we're incapable of adjusting.

First of all, irregardless is not a word :hi:.

Secondly, its not hard to figure an offense out when the OL can't run block very well and can't give a quarterback time to make accurate throws of any distance. The key for D's are to either blitz one person or just sit back, keep everything in front of you and make the tackle.

Not rocket science.

If anyone wants an example of why some are frustrated with the offensive play calling, the double reverse was a prime example. We are making positive gains on a sustained drive and in scoring position. Then we call that play which takes a long time to develop well behind the line of scrimmage with a high probability of a loss of yardage when we were already in field goal range. Not only did it stall the drive, but it kept us off the score board. Inexplicable.

Can someone not jump the wall one Sunday in Arlington, completely dressed in orange and beat the hell out of Dooley. I think that's what we need to do to break the curse.

Yeah coaching sucks right?? Fahr everyone man!!

Lol, when did I say fire anybody. But,how many quarters do we need to go without scoring a TD before we start questioning the coaching or lack thereof? Every team that had played OM has at least scored a TD with the exception of Memphis and one other directional school. Paint it any way you like but these O coaches are not ready for prime time. Will Butch and company get there? Time will tell.

At that point we were coming off some nice runs by Hurd too. We never really went back to him after that.

Don't ask me why.

Oh... My.... Goodness.... Based on what???

Go to bed. Come back in a few days.

I base my opinion solely upon what I've seen on the field.

So, let's go down the list, shall we...

We get blown out by a (now) struggling Oklahoma team that looks NOWHERE NEAR as good in the last two weeks as they did when we played them.

We get out coached for the third year in a row (10th overall), second for this staff, by a coach who will go down as the WORST HC BY A MILE at Florida for the last 30 years.

Now, we get beaten like a rented mule by a team that Memphis gave fits.

And, for the record, I really like Butch and I sincerely hope my opinion is wrong but I'm done making excuses for losing, period.

It's becoming more and more necessary for Butch to perform at an ELITE level off the field so that they can overcome the pedestrian coaching on the field.

Very unpopular opinion, I know, but I've seen this movie before...

Honest question, think about it before you dismiss this question. If you are Worley, how much trust do you have in your coaching staff if they make no improvements in protection formations, putting a kid with a torn ACL in the game, no extra back in pass protection, etc...

Our coaching staff has made no attempt to improve protection and is just being stubborn. I know Worley makes mistakes but I think he is off because of the constant pressure. Again, no attempt at all to adjust and give him extra protection. Do you think it's a coincidence we ran through 3 QB's last year. I would be curious the injury ratio on Cincy QB's during CBJ's time.

I think it's a good possibility he has internal doubts if he wants to go back out there and keep getting killed. He may "milk" that shoulder next week.

Ok. I gotta get off of here. Some of our fans' weak faith and lack of patience and understanding of just how bad of a situation Butch for and just how bad our OL is is frustrating.

Good night. All is not lost. We still have five games left. GBO! Get to a bowl!

Amen!

I counted 3 sacks were Worley had someone open and held the ball too long. Two more sacks should have been throw aways. This was Worley's worst game so far. It may have been bad enough for the coaches to start looking down the line.

Not the same movie. Just isn't. Now, I can't predict the future so it could very well have the same ending. But I can make a list how this plot is way different. JMO.

I agree with everything you have listed here. Unfortunately, someone has to be the whipping post. If we get rid of Butch its just going to be restarting the clock on getting back to being a competitive SEC team.

I agree JSP, but my thought is he is just punch drunk. He is gradually getting worse and making bad decisions, I argue it's a lack of confidence.

The kid with the torn ACL gave us better tackle play than we've had since he went out.

Yes I did. It's commonly used and accepted in place of regardless.

Ok. I didn't question it initially. But it's only there because people say it. But I don't believe it to be a real word. Don't get too upset, just giving you a hard time because it's something else to talk about.

Yeah, I don't think he really sees the field when he drops back. He did in the first couple games, but now I think he's panicking the second the ball is snapped.

JJay, it was a desperate move. I watched him, he did do better on run blocking and I respect the young man, this has nothing to do with Gilliam but you will need to watch his pass pro. It's not possible with a torn ACL to block a speed rusher and is ridiculous to think a man with a torn ACL would be able to protect a qb.

Surely no one thinks Butch should be fired after this season regardless of results. But the way this typically goes, after about three years and no real improvement is made, the recruiting starts to fall off and then the fans lose faith and then the cycle repeats itself.

One thing I've noticed about Butch, he appears very stubborn (a trait he shares with a lot of great coaches). I'm not sure he can win at a championship level with some of these coaches. Look at the offense and defense. The offense his heavy on Big East coaches and it is really struggling. On the other side of the ball, there is a heavy influence of former SEC coaches. I can see why the defense has progressed at a faster pace.
