Recruiting Forum: UNofficial Utath State Pre-Game Thread

IMO, Von P. Has been flying under the radar so far this preseason. He will be on the map by Monday morning. 6 catches 120 yards 2 TDs. At least one of the "wow" variety

I'll say Josh Malone. 5 catches 105 yds 2 TD

That being said, IMO, our WR corp in general will make the USU DB's look stupid. :birgits_giggle:

I'm so ready for this game. Unfortunately I found out today that I'll have to be at work until 5:00 on Sunday. I hope I can make it to the game before kickoff.

Ok, question of today:

One player who has a big game for the Vols.

Give stats and reasons.

Marlin Lane 150 yards, 2 TD

He will be fresh, uninjured, and Tennessee will rely on the run game and short passing game to open the season

Derek Barnett has his coming out party in his first game.

3 TFL, 2 Sacks, 1 FF

Peterman comes in during the 4th quarter because we have a sizeable lead and throws for 80 and rushes for 30 with a td.

To Whom It May Concern,

Pepe Silvia has contracted a unique illness peculiar to University of Tennessee Volunteers. It begins near the end of August annually. It has mysteriously ended in November for the last several years. Much to the joy of the afflicted, it will soon retun to its normal seasonal ending in January.

This malady will require Mr. Silvia to miss at least part of his workday multiple times throughout the Fall months. It is highly likely that it will strike him around 1:30 PM EST this Sunday. I can state this within a reasonable degree of medical certainty.

This will serve as a physician's note to excuse him from work. It will also serve as a FMLA form during this time period on an annual basis.

That should work Pepe!

Cheer for your Vol brethren stuck in TX

Little bitty secondary for Utah State vs our WR's

Cold Hard Facts regarding USU
Yes chuckie can make all of the throws & yes we have traditionally had issues with mobile QBs but, did you know....

USU only has 1 OL returning & they are also replacing their top 2 WRs, top 2 RBs,main pass catching TE & on defense only have 1 returning starter on the DL & 1 DB at safety. In fact, while 1 of the corners did play some last year, the other hasnt played at all. I like our play makers over that secondary 6 days a week & all day on Sunday baby!

Returning starters:TN 14 USU 7 fewest in D1 this year.

Power ratings average talent rankings for recruiting the last 4 yrs=TN 16th nationally, USU 128th nationally. Which means while we are both young, our talent is significantly better. Factor in a Rocking Neyland at night & I think you could have a major blowout. I will stay conservative & say TN 38 USU 20

Is there anyone out there who thinks we will actually lose this game?
Believe it or not, most of the betting "experts" are saying take USU because they not only expect them to cover, but a lot of them are saying they expect USU to win outright. Honestly it's a little concerning to me because I like all of you think UT should win big. The only "expert" I've seen say UT will cover so far is Phil Steele and he said it will probably be a very close game throughout but UT should win by a touchdown.

I'd be fibbing if I said I wasn't nervous about it. I think we will win, though. Inexperience is my only hesitation. I think the talent makes up for it.

This. I'm nervous. We don't know what we have yet. What we know we have are talented but young players and a coaching staff with lots to prove.

Haha, thanks. I'll have to show this to my boss. There's some mandatory training Sunday from 1-5. I'm leaving work at 5 regardless of whether or not the training is done. And then I'm gonna be flying up 75 to Knoxville.

And I'm really tired of hearing about Chuckie Keeton. I hope our defense swarms him.

Not worried here. Typically D is further ahead of the O at the beginning of a season. We finally have speed at the edges for containment. We sorely lacked that last year.

Our D will turn Chuckie Keeton into Chuckie E Cheese.
