Recruiting Forum: UNofficial Utath State Pre-Game Thread

Forde's the first one to say in print what Ive been saying: Keatons a good QB with no surrounding cast, but most important his first game on a repaired knee. His mobility will be less than before and he wont be 100% mentally. We need to respect him, but we should go after him a beat him.

Not to mention it's his first game back in over a year. I'd wager most people returning from acl do not light it up their first game back.

How bad does this suck? I have to work a 12 hour shift Sunday and guess what time I have to be there? 7 P.M.!!!! Needless to say I will be useless during the game listening to it on the WIVK app on my phone. But, the only worry I have is that I won't be able to use my lucky charm to insure a victory!
I started last year during the South Carolina game. I got a Orange plastic gun that came with a Cabela's hunting game for the Wii and started "shooting" their best players lol. Hopefully we can still win without this huge advantage :)

33-27 (2 OT). Not sure the victor.

I think too many on here underestimate Utah State. They have talent, are well-coached, are unfazed in hostile environments, and have the type of QB against whom UT has struggled for the better part of a decade.

The fate of our season clearly rests in your hands

If the O-line can handle USU's front seven, it'll be a comfortable win. I'll say 35-17. If not, it'll be a tight defensive game that'll end 20-16.

I'm more concerned with our defense making the stops. I am confident that our OL will manage fine.

ok, question of today:

One player who has a big game for the vols.

Give stats and reasons.

Marlin lane 150 yards, 2 td

he will be fresh, uninjured, and tennessee will rely on the run game and short passing game to open the season

jrm

Haha, thanks. I'll have to show this to my boss. There's some mandatory training Sunday from 1-5. I'm leaving work at 5 regardless of whether or not the training is done. And then I'm gonna be flying up 75 to Knoxville.

.

These first games are always so tough to predict.

I remember when Cal came through back a few years ago. We were pretty heavy underdogs there, IIRC.

Anyways, I was in Malaysia at the time, in an era when live sports streams were really hard to come by. I checked the score at halftime on the ESPN website, and the front page read, "Orange Crush". Meachem had 2 or 3 TD's in the first half.

Man, that was capital.

To Whom It May Concern,

Pepe Silvia has contracted a unique illness peculiar to University of Tennessee Volunteers. It begins near the end of August annually. It has mysteriously ended in November for the last several years. Much to the joy of the afflicted, it will soon retun to its normal seasonal ending in January.

This malady will require Mr. Silvia to miss at least part of his workday multiple times throughout the Fall months. It is highly likely that it will strike him around 1:30 PM EST this Sunday. I can state this within a reasonable degree of medical certainty.

This will serve as a physician's note to excuse him from work. It will also serve as a FMLA form during this time period on an annual basis.

For any questions, comments, or concerns regarding this disease process, please feel free to contact me directly,

That should work Pepe!

Cheer for your Vol brethren stuck in TX

:)

:salute:

That's some good stuff right there.

I see this game shaping up very similar to the Tennessee vs Cincinnati game. All the hype for the opponent, and then they become completely overwhelmed with the environment and the talent and speed of Tennessee.

I was there in the 3rd row. It was truly a beautiful thing to behold. The Cal players came in with such arrogance and swagger, it was fun to watch their hopes crushed in a sea of orange.

Keeton's stats are boosted by the amount of screens that they throw. Most of their passing plays are screens. This is one reason his completion % is so high. Im not saying he cant throw the ball, just that his passing stats are boosted by the amount of screens they throw. Its also one of the reason's that his attempt/INT ratio is so great. I really hope that our DBs are ready for these screens.

Everytime POA says "screens" everyone has to do a shot. :good!:

Or wku, or NCst.

This. I'm nervous. We don't know what we have yet. What we know we have are talented but young players and a coaching staff with lots to prove.

Worley is not inexperienced. Randolph is not inexperienced. Lane is not inexperienced. AJ is not experienced. Pig is not inexperienced. I could go on. We have a solid core. I do understand newcomers will play a significant role. There is leadership.
