Recruiting Forum: UNofficial Vandy Pre-Game Thread

I said a while back if UT went bowling in 2014 CBJ deserved a $500,000.00 raise and an extension. After this game at Vandy, I am leaning more toward about 100,000.00 and a window dressing contract extension. A win is a win, but tough to be very proud of that showing today.

Man this OL has some very serious issues. I know some of them are young. Not a lot of experience. How can young and inexperienced guys not show ANY improvement through a 12 game season? SMH

I agree, BB, and am actually shocked. I never thought I would see a Butch-led team come out not ready. We were flat the entire game.

They weren't 100% sharp as a team early but after Hurd went out I thought they took a step backwards in attitude. I think losing him had an effect on the attitude of the team.

Glad Dobbs is going to get the extra practices and game - he needs it. His passing stunk. Don't know why Kerby isn't the RG and Kendrick the LT, but it obviously is not what Butch wants to do or he would make it happen. Hope it works out for him with what he has on the field. Hurd would have made a difference in this game. Lane tries hard but is nowhere near as good as Hurd. Forget Jake. Until there is a change in the OC this is what you get. He will give you two good games per year. You will have to win on talent and grit the rest of the time.

JRM, Weatherd, and Bynum at LB with Curt at DE full time IMO. When you go 3 man rush, Weatherd to spy and rush late. It's the best D combination on the field. You can float Curt out into coverage and bring Weatherd to disguise things at times. In nickel they can alternate Weatherd and Bynum based on situation. JRM stays in 24/7.

But what do I know - just an armchair QB.

Are you talking for the bowl game or next year? I could see one or more of the young guys having something to say about that next year.

Nah they weren't ready last week either.......

I think offensively they do what they do. They really don't scheme for one team or another. I think other Ds have them figured out and we have zero ability to adjust. When it doesn't work it's because the players "didn't execute". I think that's why the last two weeks have turned out so poorly offensively.

That's the dumbest logic on the planet. You're suppose to attack the weakness of a defense the best you can....

I think not having any size on the perimeter hurt us. Vandy had no concerns about a deep ball and it showed. Teams have found the Dobbs formula so we will have to adjust.

Also. Can we lie to Jake and tell him that the hashmarks are sidelines so he will throw to the middle?

Von Pearson isn't small...... Daniel Helm can be used outside in the redzone.
