Recruiting Forum: UNofficial Vandy Pre-Game Thread

Wins over South Carolina, Kentucky, Vanderbilt. Competitive in the division. That's some footing for ascendancy next year.

Are you talking for the bowl game or next year? I could see one or more of the young guys having something to say about that next year.

Oh no - this year for the bowl game. I am anxious for more talent to arrive as well.

It wasn't pretty, we didn't cover the points, but a win is a win and I will take it. Going to help a lot with those extra practices this year I think.

Von Pearson isn't small...... Daniel Helm can be used outside in the redzone.

I agree on Pearson. We should throw him at least 2 deep balls a game and tons of fades in the red zone and I think he should be outside. The coaches don't see it that way though.

At least the extra practices will allow some guys to heal up. The sad thing for me is even with a dozen or so more practices, I doubt the OL looks any better. I suppose a bowl game may allow another team to set some sack records against this line. Maybe they can give up 50 sacks this year? :ermm:

I said I'd be happy with 6-6 and a bowl game. I'm going to stick with that. We'll see what changes next year brings.

A win is a win even though we didn't play well. It's Vandy. We had a losing streak against them. A lot of key players out and hurting tonight. Gotta give it to the team, they play hard and don't give up.

We played terrible against UF and lost. I'm sure we all would take a W there.

Critical that we play well in the bowl and get the W. Would definitely help with recurring and momentum for next year.

We have seen 24 games of Jake. I have seen only a handful of games that the scheme and play calling seemed to be designed to attack the opposing teams' weaknesses as InVOLuntary has said. The rest were the same old same old. So why are we supposed to believe that it will be better next season if there are no changes in the staff? It's not just scheme or play calling or player development. It's all who they choose to play and at what position. That has killed them all season. I have never seen a more mishandled O-line in all my life.

And we know coaches are never wrong...

Good post.

Guy`s this is hard for me to say but, if this OL is just BAD next year it will be a BIG improvement.

I'm not disappointed. Was at the game and seeing that ball fall incomplete on 4th down felt great.

Ugly, ugly win. We basically pulled a Missouri. Missing a lot of players tonight. A healthier Tennessee team, or even a Tennessee team with a healthy Hurd would have won easily.

Defense won us the game. Not sold on Bajakian, but damn, the guy is playing with one hand tied behind his back and it got even worse for him tonight. Virtually no weapons on offense available.

Let's enjoy this win, guys. We did it. The season as of today is a success. Next year this team will be much, much better and deeper.

Good news is... Croom will be healthier. North will be back. Hurd will be back. Crowder should be back. Scott should be back. Malone will be back. Jakob Johnson should improve, as will whoever else fills into the MLB spot. I'm probably missing more

Exactly. This year was unlucky in terms of injuries. Next year there probably won't be as many and we will have more depth.

Hopefully the majority of the team will be healthy for the bowl game.
