Recruiting Rankings Matter

Top 10 is where we recruit. It’s really good. However, to truly compete for a championship you have to recruit top 5 if not top 3.

Your ratio of 4/5 stars has to be significantly higher than the 3 stars on your roster.

I don’t believe your analysis is even debatable anymore. Too much proof what you’re saying is correct.

Ryan Williams is good but when you are force fed 20 passes a game you’re going to have big numbers.

I prefer the Randy Moss type WR that goes for 4 catches 175 yards and 3 TDs over the Larry Fitzgerald type receiver that has 10 catches 120 yards and 2 TDs.

Ryan Williams reminds me of a shorter version of Randy Moss while Jeremiah Smith reminds me of Larry Fitzgerald. And I'll always take a short Randy Moss over Larry Fitzgerald.

I would rather have Smith than either. He is an absolute freak.

Smith lacks their explosiveness. He's more of a physical possession receiver with some deep speed like Larry Fitzgerald. Ryan Williams reminds me of a shorter Randy Moss while Wingo reminds me of Sterling Sharpe. Both have an extra juice in their legs Jeremiah Smith simply doesn't have.

With that said there is no shame in being another Larry Fitzgerald. That's a first ballot Hall of Famer.

I strongly disagree. There isn’t one reciever in the country that I would take over smith. I’ve seen both Williams and smith in person. It isn’t even freaking close

You won't see me trying to convince you otherwise. I think Smith is a stud as well. I was simply stating my preference. I compared Jeremiah Smith to Larry Fitzgerald. You're more than justified in thinking he's the best WR in the country.

I just like my wide receiver to be the most explosive receiver in the country. And IMO no receiver can take the top off a defense like Ryan Williams. He definitely can't do everything Smith can do given the difference in physicality. But one thing he can do better is beat the defense deep.

Smith is absolutely the best wr in the nation, but holy moly the wr nfl draft class for ‘27 is going to be insane with williams, smith, wingo, matthews, etc

Man we were so close to landing Wingo too. Would have been nice about now.
I haven't read all three other posts. But.. This is the point of contention we're gonna gonna have to get past to realty get in this thing.

We're good right now. Elite in some areas. Deep in some areas. Still as little short in others.

But we've not shown the willingness to out bid an osu, tx or UGA for a guy like that.

We have to decide whether or not those are the waters we want to swim in. If we don't.. This is our ceiling. If we do.. Buckle up, it's about to beat rocky ride.

it's that simple, right?... And that's probably wrong to do that, cause I know it's not that simple.

Ever since 2011, every national champion has had blue chip ratio of 50%+, Tennessee has a ratio of 46%. But PLEASE keep arguing to me that rankings dont matter and these random ass 3 star ol or wr’s who’s next best offer is Western Kentucky will win us championships

You left out the part that our ratio has risen annually since CJH arrived.

But keep being ignorant. Don’t let me stop your cry fest.

Unfortunately, we do not have a WR close in any aspect to Williams, Smith, or Wingo.

Staff says the incoming kid from middle tennessee is freakish athlete, Radarious Jackson.

That said, Wingo and Smith were always at top of the list. Def missed on some high profile guys at WR of late. Same for OL.

They were stacked before NIL. Once the roster expansion lands it will get even worse.

Not Oregon. They were not a perennial top 5 recruiting power like they are right now. USC used to recruit better than them. When paying players became acceptable they started throwing that Nike money around and got into the top 5 every year. Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State were the only programs that were top 5 every year before NIL. Other teams from talent rich states like LSU, Texas, Florida State, and USC used to rotate in and out every now and then. Also after winning national titles Clemson started getting into the top 5 as well in the late 2010s.

Oregon has had b2b top 5 classes. Those are their only two. Remains to be seen how long it will last but I would agree that they’re there to stay due to NIL.

Clemson had 2 top 5 classes (2020, 2021). Headliner of the 2020 class was DJU. #2 overall player.

People are also forgetting that Phil Knight is backing up brinks trucks a mile back into Eugene. They already said they’re going all out to try and win a national championship for Phil Knight before he’s 6 feet under. When he dies does nobody think he just gonna give a f*** ton of money to Oregon in his will to use for NIL football for generations?

The ignorant part of your rant is that you’re intentionally ignoring the fact that our current class is over the 50% threshold you’re concerned with. As was the class before that.

You seem to be ignoring this so you can cry and complain about 3* players.

How many of our said bluechip players played this year? More specifically, in the secondary and LOS? Because that’s where we got torched the worst
