UF wants a higher profile coach than Strong....He's better off at Louisville than ruining his career losing at UF on a regular basis.

Strong wouldn't have gotten the job.. and probaly would have been let go.. He's good where he is at..

And I think he's already signed a contract..

Stoops turned the job down the first time before Meyer was offered and he will turn it down again....Mullen is probably the front runner because the system would stay intact and he has proved he is a heck of a coach with what he did with lesser talent at Miss St

Hard to believe Mullen would leave State after one year. I imagine Fla has their man, waiting till after the Sugar Bowl. Whittingham from Utah? History repeats itself? Foley is a Utah man---and Utah did beat bammer LY, and Utah just whipped Cal in the Bowl game. Hmmmm.

Let me throw this nugget out there. I know there was talk with him and the Redskins, but...

From 1980-83, Mike Shanahan was the OC in Florida.

I just read on three Gators sites that he could one of the targets approached for the job.

Thoughts?

It being the season and all, maybe Foley could man up and admit they didn't give Zook enough time and bring him back.

While I'm at, UGA could reconsider Goff.

Okay... I'm a a day or so late for Santa.

He was the first choice when Spurrier left, but he'll probably stay in the pros. Don't count out Dallas as well.

Stoops seems to make the most sense if they can get him away from OU. Petersen makes sense as well. Tuberville doesn't seem to match the image.

They could pull an NFL guy but a college assistant is out of the question... including Muschamp and Strong.

They need to make sure they get this right, or we're going to see a lot of UT-Bama SEC championship games.

Its going to happen sooner or later... and I'd say the time table just moved up a couple notches. The odds of it occuring in 2010 just increased 100%.

Any more ideas?

Pat Forde (espn4d) on Twitter

Pat Forde of ESPN:

"Names in the immediate post-Meyer rumor mill: Stoops, Petrino, Shanahan, Dan Mullen, Charlie Strong.

"FYI, I think Shanahan would be a long shot. But he did talk to Foley about the job earlier this decade, I believe when Spurrier left.

.... Interesting. We'll see.

I think he's NFL-bound. But hard to say.
