Surprised?

The national debt is likely to balloon under tax policies championed by three of the four major Republican candidates for president, according to an independent analysis of tax and spending proposals so far offered by the candidates.

The lone exception is Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who would pair a big reduction in tax rates with even bigger cuts in government services, slicing about $2 trillion from future borrowing.

According to the report — set for release Thursday by U.S. Budget Watch, a project of the bipartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget — former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum and former House speaker Newt Gingrich would do the most damage to the nation’s finances, offering tax and spending policies likely to require trillions of dollars in fresh borrowing.

I like how I mention things I don't like about 3 of the 5 most recent presidents, and all you can do is cry about the fact that 2 of the 3 were republican.

Since 60 percent of the last 5 presidents were Republican, is it so crazy that I picked 2 Republican presidential policies that I didn't like and only one Democrat?

If your not going to add anything to the conversation, and instead simply bash me because I don't consider any of the last 3 republican presidents to be "fiscally conservative" or believers in "small government", then STFU.

Wow, what a freak

I don't think 8188 is a libertarian, he sounds as if he's stuck in a 1990's time warp when the news media slobbered over Bill Clinton's economic record.

What I don't get is why people openly admit the president has about || that much effect on the economy then carry on like the office can single handedly make or break it

true, but it doesn't help the economy when the White House does things like not sign the Keystone deal or rails against wasting money in Las Vegas

I think they have an effect, it's just that there's about a 2 year lag so the next guy tends to get a lot of credit and/or blame.

One thing that Herman Cain was right about though is that there's an overriding problem of uncertainty right now due in part to Obama's agenda. 3 years in, it's hard to keep blaming the last guy.

That last sentence sounds like the UT Football Program.

Fulmer left the football program in terrible shape. It's going to take Dooley some time to repair the damage.

I wonder how many people if they could vote again would change their vote.
A lot of the information that has come out about Gingrich, and the way he treated his ex-wife, and the way he was viewed by the other member of Congress when he was Speaker, has hurt him in the polls IMO. If that information had been as accessble before Iowa I don't think he wins a state.

On the other hand, Romney does not look Presidential at all to me. I hate to say it, but I think Obama might perform better in a debate versus Romney. I almost wish Santorum would win because of the baggage these 2 have.

People have known what they were getting with Newt from the get go. His baggage has been out there for years.

I dont think people knew just how badly he treated his ex-wife or the amount of money he was getting paid as a lobbyist. I sure didn't. I knew why he resigned as a house speaker and his divorce and remarriage, just not her side of it.

They knew who they were voting for as much as they do now. They didn't care. Newt was flavor of the week when he passed through their state and they went like sheep to the ballot box.

I think the 40 or older people knew, the under 40 did not.

Did anyone hear the radio interview with Newt's exwife?
That was really damning.
Going to her hospital bed after she was diagnosed with cancer and telling her he wants a divorce.
I like Gingrich, I liked what he did as speaker when Clinton was President, but I couldn't vote for the guy after hearing that interview.

"I want to restore America's promise, and I'm going to do that," Romney said during his remarks. But before he could continue, the audience began clapping, so Romney joked: "As George Costanza would say, when they're applauding, stop."
Very early Thursday morning, the actor Jason Alexander -- who played the famous TV character -- responded to Romney on Twitter, writing, "Thrilled Gov. Romney enjoys my old character. I enjoyed the character he used 2 b 2. If he'd embrace that again, he'd b a great candidate."

It's been well documented that the asking for a divorce at the hospital thing is an urban legend.
