Who would you vote for to run for President from the Republican Party?

Ran a state for 4 years. Also ran a large company and the Olympics.

He was the head of an organizing committee for the Salt Lake City Olympics. That's not exactly the same as running the Olympics.

Running a corporation and organizing Olympic evens in Salt Lake City, in noway counts as "experience" when it comes to being the President.

So I can't count executive experience but you get to count being a state senator?

Yes, I can relate one job in politics to another job in politics, but you can't count running a business as running a nation. If that were the case, then we should just elect Warren Buffett and call it a day.

As explained in the election, running the POTUS campaign was executive experience.

don't forget when he created the "Office of the President-Elect"

that two months counts for far more than anything Romney did as well

Romney gave MA RomneyCare which Obama used as the blueprint for ObamaCare.

Romney hates US Government bailouts yet he went to Washington , requested and received bailout funds for the Olympic Games that he takes credit for saving.

By that logic, being a city councilman is more pertinent experience than managing thousands of people.

Using this logic a long serving city council member has more relevant experience for an executive role in government than would a long serving CEO of a Fortune 500 company.

Edit - damn you GA, I had the same analogy

apparently 8188 doesn't understand that executive experience (governing, whether it be a state, company, etc.) is different than legislative experience (voting or acting as a representative of a core of constituents).

one makes actionable decisions, the other does what he's told.

Gotta be honest. It's a little eerie how often we're thinking the same thing. :)

Great article about the difference between being pro-business and pro-free market. Had no idea Christie was this out of control getting in bed with big business:

Since taking office in 2010, Gov. Chris Christie has approved a record $1.57 billion in state tax breaks for dozens of New Jersey’s largest companies after they pledged to add jobs. Mr. Christie has emphasized that these are prudent measures intended to help heal the state’s economy, which lost more than 260,000 jobs in the recession. The companies often received the tax breaks after they threatened to move to New York or elsewhere

Probably the biggest beef I've had with people who discuss politicians. Most Republicans are not pro-free market, they are pro-business. Same with most Democrats.
