Restaurants Around The Country

We are currently in Miramar Beach, FL. It's like a suburb of destin just to the east. We've been to Bayou Bills 8, Surf Hut 6.5, Ocean Club 9, Acme Oyster House 7. Scheduled to eat at Louisiana Lagniappe. We have been there many times, and unless it has gone downhill it is a 10.
All of these are better than anything I've had in TN, FRESHNESS.

We usually come down for the month of January, but staying just two weeks this year. Our daughter and granddaughter came with us for the first few days, and after we got here our granddaughter tested positive for covid. Yesterday was here third day, and she is as rowdy as ever. It appears that we all have it now so we won't be going to restaurants any time soon.
The only thing that matters is that the symptoms are mild. at least so far.

Oh cool, just looked it up, says they have the third best pizza in the country. Must be amazing.

1. Juliana's Pizza, Brooklyn, New York
2. Pizza Time of St Augustine, St. Augustine, Florida
3. Moose's Tooth Pub and Pizzeria, Anchorage, Alaska
4. Keste, New York
5. Tony's Pizza Napoletana, San Francisco
6. Regina Pizzeria, Boston
7. Antico Pizza Napoletana, Atlanta
8. Bill's Pizza, Palm Springs, California
9. Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, New Haven, Connecticut
10. John's of Bleecker Street, New York
I can disagree with quite a few of these from experience but an ok list

Only been to beaches in southern and central, live in SoCal. Favorite is Avila Beach near the south end of Central Valley. Small beach in a small town but both really pleasant. Unless you’re a surfer I guess, surf seems to stay pretty small.
Been in Mr. Rick’s many times. Avila, Shell Beach( no shells), Pismo all wonderful in their own way. Clam chowder capital of the world, Splash Cafe is cool.
And not only is water cold but the beach sand is cold too.
we see more rebel flags on the weekend in Pismo Beach than anywhere in Tennessee

Don't skip Boshamp's in Destin. Best food in Destin.

lol I’ve never done a beach day on Pismo but judging from the times I’ve driven through there it doesn’t surprise me at all about the rebel flags. It definitely has that character.

12 Bones has two places in Asheville. Good, reasonably priced bbq. Multiple sauce options if you don’t like the vinegar based sauce.

Never can go wrong with the hamburger and massive baked potato at Port-o-call in New Orleans.

It's hard to find a bad restaurant in NOLA. My two favorites:
-Flamingo-a-Go-Go in the Warehouse District
-Gumbo Shop on St. Peter

I'm a Sumner County guy, and I'm all about the hole-in-the-wall, off the beaten path places. In Gallatin there's Top Hog BBQ. Pulled pork is fantastic, as are the catfish and burgers. And in Hendersonville there's a burger joint called Jumbo and Delicious that I finally tried last week.

Wife and I are headed to NYC in March. Recommendations for restaurants up there?

I bet it’s harder to find a bad restaurant in NYC than it is in NOLA. There are so many restaurants in New York and the competition is fierce, it’s a foodie paradise.

Yeah, what Mad said, it would be difficult to go wrong. The small neighborhood spots are usually terrific. Lupa in Greenwich Village is a great Italian spot. Depending on how fancy you want to get, Gotham in Greenwich is excellent.

I recommend the Sunday Gospel brunch at Red Rooster in Harlem.

I’d say it’s close. If it’s not good in NOLA, it won’t be open very long.

Woo Hoo in Elizabethtown, Kentucky has the best gyros I’ve ever had.

Not that I’ve had many, but it’s still the best.

Only place I've been on that list in John's of Bleecker. Can vouch that they serve some amazing pizza,

But best Pizza I have had is probably Giordano's Chicago Deep Dish. The Crust, the sauce, the ingredients..... just terrific.

I do want to try the New Haven appiza style. From everything I've seen, it's the best in the nation. Definitely a bucket list item.

If you're ever down in the Daytona/New Smyrna beach area, I would highly recommend The Garlic. Fantastic food and an even better atmosphere.
