Rich Men North of Richmond

I just don't get why people are so upset with that person who is fat and on welfare. My kin who is fat and on subsidy is handicapped. I'm sure people are pissed when they're buying fudge rounds but those people can kindly **** off. It's impressive enough that they're not completely dependent on the government and don't have to be a ward of the state, or whatever.

The fact of the matter is, these people do not hold political power. They do not have any kind of power. Some of them milk the system and it has some impact on us, but it's nothing compared to the rest of the BS happening in DC. If we cut EBT off altogether, it wouldn't do anything to change what you pay in federal taxes and the government would still be spending beyond their means.

The rich in DC are rich because of the military industrial complex and all the other kinds of bug contracts that are awarded. These dudes hold power and milk the government for much more than fudge rounds, the MIC specifically encourage us to be the world's police, they get our boys killed for stupid causes, and we spend trillions and trillions. But let's worry about fat people who might be barely able to take care of themselves getting government money.

And if we're being honest about being mad at obese people who burden us, let's just be mad at every one of you because you are all pretty much imposing costs on us, in one way or another. I pay the same health insurance premium as morbidly obese co-workers do and my healthy lifestyle helps to offset the cost of the fat guy at work drinking all the free sugar soda in the break room. Nah, I'm not gonna live that way and begrudge them. Go ahead and drink another Mt. Dew Marty. Just please, sincerely, don't die on the stairs.

I mean, I see what you are saying. It's not just the military industrial complex. It's deals with foreign governments, it's stupid stuff like studying the mating habits of some frog in Panama....this money winds up in the hands of those in power or their supporters, There are three quarters of the D.C. establishment that are all doing the same shiz. There is a reason that there is an incredible amount of people that live in and around D.C. that are wealthy. Our in debited tax dollars hard at work.

The insurance comparison is just flat out dumb. For someone who loves government dependency the rest isn’t surprising. Let’s do nothing to eliminate the moochers. Hell your parents couldn’t have had 6 kids without mooching off the government, you said it. Here’s the solution. If you can’t afford them you shouldn’t have them. If you can’t support yourself at best you get the BARE MINIMUM for survival and it it doesn’t last forever.

I'd rather sit by a campfire and play over a nice beer or two. My forte is original folk-ish stuff. I like to play everything from Childers to 80s hair metal.

I have written some songs as well. Rock songs. I have one that's actually pretty good (Or so I have been told.). It's called "Rock Bottom". It's about people who are afflicted, whether chemically, emotionally, spiritually, physically, ect.....and what do the vast majority of people do when they are at rock bottom? They call out to God for help, whether they believe in him or not. No atheists in the trenches I suppose. It actually flows really good. Good rhythm and solo. I plan on recording it soon.

While I agree with a lot of what you’re saying…..I say we do away with both.

You know who else is dependent on the government? Moochers? Farmers.

The truth hurts you. You're just crying because you know he's right and you ain't got the balls to admit it.

What "truth" are you referring to? I'm not hurt or "crying in the least--but I am laughing at your comment. As I said, it's just another country lament, like 1,000 others. It's gone viral because of his booming, keening voice. He'll be on The Voice within a few weeks, I predict.

Doesn't change the fact that they're dependent on the government.

I get the subsidy point and the assistance given to the big industries, but my point is farmers in general would be among the least dependent upon others re: personal sustenance. Others may be able to barter services, but they still have to have a food source.

Yeah, exactly

That's why the song is classic MAGA. It blames things like our debt problems on entirely the wrong things but appeals to misplaced seething resentment.

It's written as if it were
That's your opinion but at least this time you actually watched the video before giving an opinion.

It's just a song and it's how he feels. For whatever reason you seemed all pissed off that others are pissed off about things you care nothing about and it didn't touch on everything you're concerned with so it's a joke to you.

I like it and I think he touched on some issues that do need attention. A song isn't going to change the whole world and solve all it's problems no matter what it's about or how well written you think it is.

Lol. I'm done with you wasting my time.

Wtf. It's a joke because the lyrics are silly. Imagine Bob Dylan writing a lyric about fudge rounds in a protest song...now imagine Flight of the Conchords doing it. Which feels right?

This is the politics forum and you need thicker skin here. Don't be so offended about an opinion about a political song

Okay. For the third time I don't think it's a joke, and the lyrics are silly because the situation he's talking about is heckin stupid.

Why do you think I need to hear this once, twice, or especially 3x? It doesn't change what it is

Because you keep saying the same thing. I get it, the lyrics are silly and you think it's a joke.

Anything else?

There's that military industrial complex. Thanks for the assist
MIC is out of control. And wastes $Trillions.

Does that mean other wastes of our tax dollars aught naught be addressed if we can’t fix MIC first?

There are other discussions where some proclaim defiantly (and rightfully) that “we can work on more than one thing at once”.
