Richmond is taking down Confederate statues: Is this the end for other Confederate memorials?

I’m surprised no one has mentioned exhuming every black military person that’s buried at Arlington (Lee’s former home) and put them elsewhere.
Be damn a black man be buried on a Confederate’s land.
That's the biggest problem here, when people fold on one thing to the radical mobs, they will then move on to something else when they get their way on this. I can promise the radical domestic terrorists won't stop with simply removing statues

No, I could say “white supremacists have no place in America” and your response would be a poor one
That would be correct, but that isn't what he said. I could say a lot of things but they have no bearing on the factual incorrectness of that post.

Lincoln would have found another reason to invade.

This is likely true. But I wonder if the Confederacy would have garnered more sympathy from the European nations if they hadn't given Lincoln an excuse for invasion by firing on Sumter. Perhaps Britain would have intervened for the Confederacy if Lincoln's invasion appeared to be totally unprovoked.

I think the Confederacy should have blockaded Sumter until starvation forced the Yankees to evacuate it.

My point is that “no place” is more of an opinion based on our values than it is a factual statement that they’ve literally never existed

Wording matters, " no place" means what it means. It does deserve and have a place in America. I drive past battlefields often where blood was shed. The CS were on the wrong side of history but they were gracious in defeat and we're allowed to be by the Union who welcomed them back for a reason. They do have a place and serve a lesson for future generations of they'll actually pay attention.

I think Lincoln would have ordered the Navy to run the blockade and shots would have been fired. Lincoln wanted the war and he was going to do whatever it took to get it.

Lincoln supplied Ft. Sumpter with the intention of baiting the Confederacy to begin hostilities which worked. It also backfired because Tennessee, Arkansas, Virginia, North Carolina seceded in part due repulsion over Lincoln’s tactics regarding Ft. Sumpter.

Lincoln definitely wanted the war but I think the Confederacy could have done a better job of not looking like the aggressor. Firing on Sumter was absolutely a huge mistake imo.

Yeah, it means what it means, and what you think it means is wrong. The definition below even uses racism as an example, which “has no place” but clearly exists

Definition of NO PLACE FOR

I agree. The SC Militia initiated hostilities too soon.

Lol. Every time you post I can’t stop thinking about Phil making your comments with your avatar above. I visualize him saying your words with his middle TN accent and all. Rather entertaining.
Lol that's from Phil watching Pruitt's post game presser after Georgia State or maybe BYU. I can't remember. Considering Pruitt turned it around pretty good I should definitely change it before this season.

I believe that’s from the locker room after the BYU game.

For the record I can see how many would be offended by these monuments in public places, for that reason alone they shouldn't be there. IMO they belong on the battlefields if anywhere. That way they give historical context in a visual sense to positions and movements on the battlefield. But then again I'm a war history buff and particularly interested in the civil war.

I wonder if King had his Bible in the hotel room with him while he witnessed, and offered advice, on the Rape of a woman?

FBI wiretap in 2016: Deep State lies. Every involved should be imprisoned and cannot be trusted.

FBI memo describing alleged wiretap from 1960: Believe every word of it because the FBI wouldn't make stuff up just to discredit someone.

I live in Virginia and I can say I've been through Richmond once. I couldn't care less about the monuments and many others around here feel the same way I do. There are plenty of places in Virginia to intentionally learn about Civil War history and they aren't that hard to find. Monuments like these don't need to be in public places or celebrated as it was a dark time in our history, they should be in museums where they should sit as reminders of how far we've come.

I agree. It would be quite appropriate if these monuments were placed on battlefields or Confederate cemeteries.
