Because the Atlantic is such an unbiased well educated source with no agenda to push whatsoever. The only myth that is
actually circulated is that Lee was staunchly anti slavery. He admitted the sin in it but lacked the will to act on it. He was also probably more humane compared to the rest of the country in terms of how he treated the blacks. Kindly for his era and geographic location? Maybe. But the abolitionist idea is a joke. He's probably the finest military mind our country has ever seen in the field. I'll argue that with you all you like
Factual history. You don't have to like it, but don't lie to yourself. It's like those who don't want to believe Lincoln was a white supremist. He wasn't a member of the KKK, but he said he thought blacks were an inferior race.Revisionist history by loser, traitors, cowards, rapists and murderers.
'The blacks,' 'the gays,' 'the Muslims' — linguists explain one of Donald Trump's most unusual speech ticsI wish I could watch the video I'm sure it'll make me laugh. But how on earth is the term blacks offensive
Ah, states' rights. Seems like we've heard this one before.
Do you think it's something the federal government should regulate? Should they be telling states what monuments are and are not acceptable? Not sure why you would see letting the states makes their own decisions as a bad thing? Should it not be up to the people who live there?

McConnell is going to have a hard time explaining this one then.Of course he think the fed gov should be mandating their removal.
Haven't given it any thought one way or another. Just found it funny that a Southerner, when asked a question about an issue that touches on the Confederacy and it's connection to slavery, says "states' rights".First, I go commando. Second, it was a legit question. Should federal government be regulating what monuments are acceptable for states?
