Rick Barnes discussion (merged)

You're clearly aware that road games are tough. As a matter of fact, a stat was shared pretty widely this weekend that AP top 10 teams are 17-27 on the road this year against unranked teams. I think it's more like 18-28 now since we won at Vanderbilt and Auburn lost at Mississippi State. Either way, that means AP top 10 teams are only winning at a ~40% clip on the road against unranked opponents. That's nuts, but it's true.

Are you suggesting that all we have to do to overcome this very well-defined trend is "forget that tough road game crap"? I mean, I want to give people the benefit of the doubt, but that's just a totally unserious thought.
I saw 21-28 last night.

Exactly, because any legitimate criticism of Deacon O’Neill is strictly forbidden!
Give us some Barnes criticism then. So far all you have done is predict a 3 game losing streak, called Barnes some names and hoped Knecht gets hurt. Sounds like trolling to me. But, come on, give me more than Deacon and Holly Barnes and I will listen, if you have anything worthwhile to post

I may even contribute a reply! 😏

Team shows up flat with no heart. Loses a game they should win. It happens every year. Every NCAA tournament. We'll win some huge games with Rick but seems his teams can't shake this curse. Barnes is a great coach 95% of the time. But we always have these monster let down games every year. At least that's the way it seems to me.

All the “Big Guys” have lost games this year.

Your knowledge of college basketball is lacking big time.
Thank you for your valued input. I was talking about the bigs teams of the past, not this year as anyone who is able to look at team rankings will see that it is a bit different than say the 80s, 90s, 00s, etc. although some bigs are there.

In short, your reading of a post and analyzation of said post is lacking. Somewhat like a consistent team effort with a disciplined game that basically means that most games against teams that just do not really have it means wins against those teams ... like tonight unfortunately. That being said, does anyone have a good reason since we have used up on the road, they had a chip on their shoulder, surprise surprise surprise, etc.?

You typed a ton to say basically nothing here. This is a bad loss no doubt, but sometimes 20 year olds just don’t play well. It happens to everyone. Sucks that it happened at home with so many chances to win, but it happens. We move to Saturday.

That really wasn't a lot, but perhaps you attended public school. Additionally, it would be great to hear why this university basketball team cannot get to be like teams who have been quite good over time, but it's great because we love our coach. If you don't want to do that, please tell us how you enjoy hanging on your fav coach's nuts so that we can experience the joy of that kind of love since I am not reading that performances like we just saw were cool with any other coach that has led the team.

In summary, it has absolutely nothing to do with who is the coach. It is about getting out in front and being the best. Perhaps it may not conclude with winning it all, but it will be quite obvious that the team was fighting for every inch.

This happens to EVERY program. You guys act like it’s just UT. That’s silliness. Of course, it happens. “Barnes is a great coach 95% of the time.” Holy moly, why wouldn’t we take that?
