I love that this thread is still going..... I'm so tired of being in the top 8 seeds with shot at 1 seed even while losing first game in conference tourney

I agree with this. I think that having Zakai and Dalton are prolly the two best guys to enforce this message. Since we learned a few years ago that the conference tourney means absolutely nothing, I'm glad we had the showing in nashville that we did. Perfect wake up call for ZZ and DK to lead this team to a fire under their asses

Think we found Steven's burner account. Pearl's had exactly 1 good year out of 9 years at Auburn...all other seasons he either missed the tournament or exited before the S16:

2014: Didn't make the tourney
2015: Didn't make the tourney
2016: Didn't make the tourney
2017: 2nd round exit
2018: F4 appearance
2019: Didn't make the tourney
2021: 2nd round exit
2022: 2nd round exit

This is a great example of stupid.

Go ahead and believe I've been a bandwagon guy since the mid 70s as a six or so year old from Mears to now.

It's interesting how the rules are applied to coaches differently in this thread.

Nevertheless, congratulations bkg on having the best hanging position.

My biggest thing is they are both great coaches, but Barnes recruits and turns out a better quality of person IMO, but I could be wrong. No guns under car seats no drugs etc... no violations.
I like some get frustrated with their play sometimes, but overall, they represent the University in a gentlemanly manner with much aplomb. True student athletes.

I have said multiple times that I do not love teams because of coaches and I have also said I like Barnes and Pearl. Additionally, wins are great, but I like winning it all.

Which team or fan of the team would you like to be, 1983 nc st wolfpack or phi slamma?

Houston looks better on paper, but the winner is who is remembered.

Yes, of course. The hangers are fair with the value of their facts, but the entirety of the other side is always obviously wrong with their facts.

Just like Barnes, Pearl’s initial seasons at Auburn had virtually no expectations for postseason appearances. These dumb posts using their first few years as some “more likely to fail over a tenure” argument are moronic. Neither was taking Auburn or Tennessee anywhere near the NCAAT in their first couple of seasons.

Being a fan for either of those teams is appropriate. Houston was the better team but got beat in that one game. What if it had been best of 3? We'll never know in this one and done crapshoot.

Maybe he shouldn't have thrown others under the bus in his coaching career. Lying his ass off while still at UT. Ratting on other Big Ten coaches while an assistant at Iowa. His sleaze free time was at UWM. He didn't waste any time at all serving Chuck Person up to the NCAA. One of Auburn's two best players of all time.

Pearl is a great coach, and a self-serving snake at the same time. Great for a program boost. Not so great as a program builder
