TN fans understand the concept of paying market value for a football coach, but they seem to struggle with the idea of market value for a basketball coach. I really don't know why so many people consistently come back to "hE mAkEs 5 mIlLiOn dOlLarS" over and over again. BTO's response is spot on. He's worth it because that's what UCLA was offering at the time. We should all be grateful that UT stepped up and made a commitment to basketball that few of us ever anticipated happening. It speaks to the success we should have when we're in the market for a new coach (regardless of when that time comes).

Gotta be honest, first it was South Carolina and now Vanderbilt, @1985Vols & @mr.checkerboards are now where to be found?! Color me skeptical that had Vanderbilt won they would sure be over here telling us how overpaid Barnes is and we need to move on.

Probably because an 8 point win shooting 34% against a below average SEC team isn’t impressive and still shows the same exact problems people have been harping on for the last three years. This game isn’t going to do anything to change the doubters mind.

Did you see anything offensively that is gonna turn this team around tonight? The problems are the exact same. I’m glad we play our asses off defensively and we have a lot of talent to beat these kind of teams. But this game just proves how far they are from being able to accomplish anything meaningful. We play offense like this against LSU Saturday and it’s a double digit loss.

Lol, BTO shows up after the Vols “ pull out” a Victory in another ugly basketball game. I’ll take an “ ugly” win over a “ pretty” loss all day long. However, if you can’t realize this team has lots of issues and it starts at the top, you’re not as perceptive as you might think

Question, if we had the fifth highest paid football coach in the country but he only went 4-4 in the SEC every year, would fans want him fired Because that’s basically what Barnes is doing the past 3 years?

I don’t know if anyone spends a lot of time on this forum without realizing BTO has to have the last word. A few years ago he was digging up 1-2 year old posts to prove a point. There were 10 page threads that were almost solely him and Bruin or him and Dallas. No hate, dude just likes to debate.

Any time you hire a new coach it is generally a crap shoot. I understand everyone’s frustration, but Tennessee should not change coaches.

So you’re answering for them that they are only looking for losses and don’t come around to enjoy/discuss victories? Isn’t that kind of the definition of trolling?

They shot free throws very well, does that count as offense? Lol. Chandler/Zeigler/Nkamhoua went 0/10 from 3, they were averaging a combined 41% on the year from 3, so that was an expected 4/10 and another 12 points (not sure if/how many of their missed were ORBS and scores). There wasn’t anything offensively that made me feel great, or that we’ve turned a corner offensively, more of a wait and see. My big question is what did no JJJ do? We were forced to play pretty much 2 bigs all game after that, would we have gone more small ball with JJJ, how would that have impacted things?

I am here after L’s too, it’s as if you sit back hoping for an L…after South Carolina win you weren’t around either, again if one didn’t know any better it’s as if you enjoy the L’s more than the W’s.
