You posed a question (seemingly wanting replies) and now question why someone has replied?Guy are you in a personal relationship with BarnesI've never seen someone defend a coach the way you do. You respond to evey post like someone attacked your family. It's really weird man.
Or maybe your just one of those people that has to have the last word, bugs you if you don't doesn't it?
Yes I enjoyed the W, always fun to beat Vandy.
I mean the first known step to his downfall, the bbq, was a head-shaker. How in the world did he think he was going to have so many people there and it not become public? I think that really is attributable to his arrogance and entitlement. Look, I loved Pearl before all the mess occurred, and still have a couple of “Pearl” suspenders somewhere in the recesses of my closet, but he destroyed himself here. And we saw the dumbass destroy it on his own selfish accord.
I don’t think it’s a given that he will still be here to make the hire. This fanbase has adopted the MO that a football coaching change mandates an AD change as well. Not saying Heupel is going to fail, and I like Heupel, but I’m not sure if he’s going to get the patience from the fanbase that the situation he inherited warrants if football can’t break past the 7-5 barrier in a couple of years, which I think could be tough. Barnes’s contract is fully guaranteed until 4-30-2024 so the haters will have to deal with the fact that he is unfireable for 3 more years.I trust Danny White to make that choice so I won't have to.
With help from the university but that's OK with a lot of you, meanwhile Auburn is ranked 2nd in both AP and coaches polls and is #1 in CBS 25 and 1, Andy Kantz has them #1 in the 36 power rankings. Wish Barnes would destroy himself in this way so maybe we could get out of this mediocrity. And we saw the dumbass destroy it on his own selfish accord.
You seriously need to find another team. You “wish Barnes would destroy himself” and we are in “mediocrity.” When you speak, it removes all doubt. With help from the university but that's OK with a lot of you, meanwhile Auburn is ranked 2nd in both AP and coaches polls and is #1 in CBS 25 and 1, Andy Kantz has them #1 in the 36 power rankings. Pearl has had issues at every school he's coached. Why you think he's suddenly not is baffling. Just own that you're a Pearl fan, and not the Vols. It's ridiculous. With help from the university but that's OK with a lot of you, meanwhile Auburn is ranked 2nd in both AP and coaches polls and is #1 in CBS 25 and 1, Andy Kantz has them #1 in the 36 power rankings. So Pearl can’t be fired by the school president or chancellor. It takes years of NCAA investigations, then a guilty verdict before he could legally be terminated. If this doesn‘t verify Auburn’s willingness to do what we’ve always suspected, I don’t know what does. What he suggested is just not true. I linked an article yesterday where Pearl's contract could only be terminated with cause if the NCAA made a finding of a significant violation. The attorney, who had represented O'Brien at OSU, was even quoted as saying that it's a great contract for Pearl and UT wouldn't do anything until a NCAA decision was made. So, based on facts, UT did try to keep him as much as they could.

Wow. A level-headed take. I’m not sure those are allowed in this forumAs an impartial observer (mainly a football fan), I'll add that from my perspective Barnes is who he is, a late career coach with a solid history, set in his ways, that likely peaked with Durant and peaked at Tennessee with the Grant/Admiral show. He will never win big here, but will likely never crater here either. Lately, he shows an almost unique ability to coach the spirit out of freshmen, and tends to wear his team to the bone by tournament time. That is my biggest concern. He will make the tourney most years, but will likely never get past the Sixteen.
He is a coach who will keep us in the top 20 most of the time, will have flashes of excellence and will stink the joint up at times with bad decisions. He will never embarrass us with his conduct, and is a good ambassador of the university. He has us in a good place, and that is a credit to him, but I don't think he has the desire, or energy, or whatever to push any harder.
Do I think we should fire him? No, as I have no faith in Tennessee's ability to replace a successful coach past his prime. That said, if White continues to impress with his planning and professionalism, my view may change.
Do I believe he is 'overpaid'? Frankly, yes. But with the alternative being that UCLA would have hired him and we would have relied on Paycheck Phil to find a replacement, I'd say it's worth the inflated salary to dodge what would likely have happened. The idea of Phil Freakin' Fulmer evaluating basketball coaches gives me nightmares.
So, I'm neither a Barnes Sunshine Pumper, or a NegaBarnes. Somewhere in between, but I think we should be laying replacement plans. Offer him a dignified exit at the conclusion of his contract and move on. We have time to plan this well, and I am gaining confidence that White is up to that.
Agree with your points. The scary part is how many people either actively promote this behavior, or turn a blind eye to all this. This puts Auburn at a very close 2nd to LSU in behavior that puts winning at all costs above all else, at least in my opinion. There are two paths people can choose. I want to win, but never throwing my integrity to the side. Obviously, there are other viewpoints on this issue.Exactly. Auburn sold its soul (if it ever had one) to retain the services of a person with a well-documented history of coaching issues. Stay classy War Eagles. Good luck with avoiding lack of institutional control allegations if (when?) he does it again.
I have often wondered if the nega-Barnes folks would like him better if he was a clown like BP? Maybe Rick should take off his shirt and paint himself orange or buy a bunch of discounted cold pizzas with a publicist and photographer watching or take pictures with women in swim suits. Then maybe they could embrace him for the program builder he has been.
Lulz, I was in the game thread all night. Some of us go to bed after games because we have to get up early. Nice try though.Gotta be honest, first it was South Carolina and now Vanderbilt, @1985Vols & @mr.checkerboards are now where to be found?! Color me skeptical that had Vanderbilt won they would sure be over here telling us how overpaid Barnes is and we need to move on.

I told you you were one of the more reasonable level headed posters of the regulars, please dont go and turn into TGO.
Not quite there bub. Good try though.
Also idk where some of yall get this idea, but just because I hate Barnes doesnt mean I want them to lose. Ive said time and time again id love for him to prove me wrong.
