Let me understand: last season we finish second in the league for the regular season, win the conference tournament and have 4 spots to fill before the roster is complete for next season but we should all panic because Barnes’ style is outdated and we should prepare to hire a new coach? I agree that Barnes has his faults but this is up there with the dumbest arguments on here in a long time. If you aren’t a troll you sure could pass for a great one.

You really are thick. I've pointed out you contradicting yourself a few times now, Trollforlife. I'm guessing you're really a KY fan trying to work out that rage over Cal losing to St. Peter's in the 1st round.

He does do really well in the regular season I should’ve worded that differently. I just wish all these regular season achievements would translate to postseason success. I know he won the sec championship. I’m so blessed to have witnessed that . But if not for that.. this season would have been a failure.. you can’t be one of those fans who are satisfied with a coach who wins n the regular season can ya??
That championship just made me want more.. I just don’t see how he did anything this off-season to have us competing for it next year.

I don’t think it’s a dumb argument at all sir..
His style is outdated. He did win the conference championship, amazing time one of the best days for me as a vol fan. But if he hadn’t won that.. it basically saved his job man after we got bounced in the tourney.
And he did nothing to carry that momentum into recruiting
. I know we have 4 roster spots available.
From everything that I’ve gathered on this board..
The recruits that are left compared to the rest of the sec favorites is not even close.
Transfers?? Have you heard anything about a big splash transfer walking through the door to save this team??
On top of all that… barnes is 25-26 in the tourney.
With one final four to his name.
I’m not saying we should fire him this season or even next season. What I’m saying is, we definitely should keep our eyes open for an improvement.

And I asked you to find a post outside of this thread that shows proof of me being a troll and you have failed to do so.

I know I’m probably going to get blasted for this , and part of me really believes in coach Barnes but we have to ask ourselves, is the coaches style outdated boring, and honestly those post season woes makes you wonder if the style even translates to when it matters most.. I know we don’t have any options that’s out there, like a big fish I guess.. but look at TV he was an assistant coach and pretty much everybody overlooked him. He’s done wonders for Tennessee baseball, and it’s because he’s fierce, young, and a go getter with a winning attitude.. maybe just maybe after this season Tennessee finally starts closing the chapter on the Rick Barnes era.

I never said that, I loved this team and it was actually the best Tennessee team I’ve seen play. I’ve been a huge fan since lofton.
That’s what makes it so heartbreaking though.. with a team like ours we should have made that run this year… if we couldn’t do it with this team under barnes.. what makes you think he will ever get us there?

Look, I get it. From the outside looking in, it can be a bit disconcerting seeing the transfers, etc. happening. I will concede that Barnes has had questionable post season success. I will even go so far as to agree that he hasn't delivered $5 million level results. But he has raised the expectations of fans, he has brought in more highly rated recruits overall than any other coach, he has changed the national narrative of the basketball program and he has been an honest, moral, and ethical leader. For all that, he deserves every bit of belief that he has a plan. Outside of BHH, he knew who he would probably be losing. He hasn't been sitting in his office, wringing his hands in worry, neglecting to plan or prepare. I have no doubt he has a plan and given time, it will become apparent.

The problem with your argument is you want to hypothetically say he didn’t win anything last year but he did. This time last year no one knew who Ziegler was and how did that work out for us? Just because there aren’t reports about splash players in your eyes considering us doesn’t mean we won’t bring in top flight players.
