Yea we did win the sec championship. One of the best days as a vols fan.
But let’s be honest . He loses that game . And even the most die hard Barnes fan would have a tough argument for keeping the coach.
And after he won I asked myself what did barnes do with that success??Loose in the second round?
Get us the 50th ranked recruiting class.. no news of help from the transfer portal..
I just think Tennessee Basketball needs new life. Huepels trending upward, TV is out breaking new records every game.. and their good ol barnes..

So you want to discuss "what if" Tennessee had lost the SEC championship game and "what if" Tennessee doesn't sign replacements for the scholarship players we lost? Seems legit.

We should’ve won it a lot more honestly. Just winning it once is another knock on barnes if you want the honest truth. Should’ve probably won it 3 times since he’s been the coach. But yea we need to keep our eyes open for someone to take the program farther.
Bro that stat means nothing. That just means he’s hung around long enough to get in there.
I bet it would be sad to look at that list. And look at the championships next to the other coaches .

Good point, Getting a new coach is always the solution for a lot of fans just like the backup QB is on a FB team. Makes me wonder how many of these type fans have ever played the sport beyond a pickup game at the rec center or even coached a rec league team. A HC change can be even more disruptive. Look at LSU. They don't even have a team right now.

That wasn’t the main point of what I said. Good try tho.
I was actually wanting to talk about why he can’t win in march. Why his teams under achieve when it matters most.
If that team couldn’t make it out the second round what makes you think Rick barnes will ever get a team to the final four.
Even better if he’s never made it to the championship game 😂😂 what makes you think he’s gonna change this year or the near future?
Why are we ranked around 50 in team recruiting rankings . and why hasn’t he been more successful in the portal?
You can discuss any of those If ya want.. but go ahead and do what the rest are doing say I’m a troll, or use a gif to use some humor to distract from the giant facts that’s going against Rick barnes and this team this year..

The dude is a great guy, by all means has been a great ambassador of basketball for Tennessee.
He will keep us looking pretty good in the regular season.
He did win us the sec tourney championship!! That’ll probably be his biggest achievement here at Tn . He’s lucky he won that though Bc honestly it would be a long offseason if not.
But to my point.
The dude is cursed in march.
He failed to recruit after winning that sec championship. I mean it their’s a big name out their then I would be ecstatic. Haven’t heard any though.
Losing transfers..
I don’t hear of any transfers coming in that can make a difference to this point.
With all that said do you honestly think that Rick barnes is the best Tennessee can do as a head coach?

Three of the kids that transferred are kids you probably moaned and whined about us taking in the first place.

Kentucky lost to Tennessee in the SEC Championship and then lost the opening round of the SEC Tourney to mighty St. Peters. Auburn didn't fare much better. Arkansas has a nice run, though.

The more I sit and thought about it.. I see TV doing what he is doing.. i just thought Tennessee basketball could use a personality to do what tv is doing and take the basketball team where’s it’s never been before. Once you see Rick barnes and what he is you can’t Unsee it.

Every year the coach has taken less than SEC talent and created a competitive team. Santi is a good example, the guy can drive but not finish at the basket, he can't create his own 3 point shot, his is slower than most SEC guards. Barnes modified (hi speed passes around the horn) the offense so he always get a catch and shoot 3 pointer, trained him hard so he is tougher and has a better motor than most SEC guards. He takes every player and makes them better if they will buy in. The entire recruiting process has been turned on its ear. I am sure he has figured out how to use the transfer portal to his advantage. I would love to be a coach with spots available and all of those quality players available to me in the portal. Its a new day.

You mean the three teams we beat, this year and finished 4-2 against? Two of which faired no better in the tournament than we did (one worse, even), and arguably with equal, if not better talent?

Insanity is firing a coach who just went 27-8 and won the SEC Tournament, then expecting candidates to be lining up at the door. lol

It would have been nice to make a run, but people tend to forget, 63 teams lose in March. More if you count the play in games. There's only one champion at the end. One off game, one bad match up, and you're one of those 63 teams.

In some sense, Rick Barnes has taken this basketball team where it hasn't been before ( at least for 40+ years). He has done enough here to earn your trust if you are a fan of UT. We all know that you're not though, so keep on trolling.
