First quarter of the game yes. Rest of the game they were needing to take longer threes to get open. They made 6 threes in the first quarter 7 for the game. We didn't come out and play 40 minutes of strong defense that was a problem but when you hold a team under 60 you've done the job and the loss is on your offense. We had a lot of open looks as well. Marta shot an open three completely over the goal. Your going to give up some open looks just not the easy ones like we did in the first quarter.Still seem to be leaving too many perimeter shots open, though.

Almost need to designate fresh legs for threes. Not sure what the answer is. Knowing for sure what the question is would be immeasurably helpful…First quarter of the game yes. Holling Shead. Or just ….Jill.Yes, I think Key is starting to do her thing in the middle. Hoghead helps on defense once she is cleared. That last game, off bench Marta and Striplen were hitting that glass with authority. We may need to try Miles more to see if she can regain some of the perimeter energy on defense that she showed last year. Chattanooga is a great chance for her to wreak havoc w/o giving up much size. I think Franklin can do it as well once she clears concussion protocol.
I don't see an improvement in the team work and we've had enough games to get that right. Still have poor decision making by to many players. I did see huge improvement on defense in the last couple of games.
Chances in tourney diminish just because we'll see way better teams way sooner. Yeah, if we beat them all great. But mathematically, and realistically the lower seed really raises the odds against success. Of course we have to beat them all eventually, but a lower seed makes the odds of an early exit way greater.
That's why this loss to Virgina Tech was really devastating in a lot of ways. Still no quality wins and even if they do ok in the SEC, they've really put themselves behind the 8 ball in needing to pull off an upset against a Stanford, SC, or UConn (good luck with that) to salvage any kind of decent seed...
Last 10 have to be drastically better than the first team. These early season losses could have some impact on the LV's seeding but, you are right, if they get hot in the SEC schedule, seedings always favor the teams that finish strong. A different context of course but the famous, Cinderella season was marked by a very slow and bumpy start.
Decent seed, shmeed! I just want to see them do what is necessary to get in the field. I would be delighted to have knowledge today that they make the tournament with virtually any seed. I am skeptical. I hope I'm wrong.
Well for my 2 cents..... we are always excited about the potential of the team before the start of season......Amazing how quickly this team went from Final Four hopeful to just hoping to make the tournament...
I’m guessing Kellie learnt a lesson in maintaining chemistry and integrating talent this fall. Hope it pays dividends next season.Well for my 2 cents..... we are always excited about the potential of the team before the start of season......
but the reality is that you never know how quickly a freshman will pick up the pace of the college game..... you never know how a transfer will fit into the system.....
You must wait and the team must work hard to reconstitute the team from the previous year......
