she definitely had a broken nose I heard straight from her HS coach. I think it just healed ok bc the concussion kept her out for over 2 weeks. She’s supposed to have surgery after the seasonAvery was in concussion protocol, but I don't think that she ever had a 'broken nose'. I would think that she'd be wearing a mask if that was the case.
Are you sure Avery has a broken nose? I was at the game and her nose looked completely normal and she was not wearing a nose or face guard like we normally see players wear. And I agree that she has a little "it" in her. The girl is all hustle and I'm glad Kellie gave her extra minutes of playing time.Avery’s broken nose didn’t seem to slow her down a bit. That girl has a little “it” in her!
Didn’t mind the tease there. Totally agree about Kaiya! Tess is what she is and in a shooting slump there are no points to offset the defensive liabilities. She obviously shoots well in practice. Maybe shooters have got to shoot their way out of a slump. The staff teasing Rickea’s return isn’t a great look if you ask me.
I’m as excited as anyone to have her back, but it feels like an excuse as well. Just seems like they don’t want to address the tough questions with real answers. I don’t think Kea is going to be our complete savior and it isn’t fair to expect her to be.
The rest of this team needs to improve leaps and bounds if Rickea is going to be in a position to carry us and be successful. She can do that offensively, defense has never been her strong suit and that is our biggest issue this season IMO. Someone is going to have to step up and play some D.
I’d like to see Kaiya getting 20+ minutes a game. She’s fast, plays D, finishes now (YAY) and puts pressure on our opponents defense by attacking the rim and drawing fouls.
Wouldn’t mind seeing a lot of TK/Jill, Kea, Kaiya, Spear and Wells/Powell.
I don’t think Darby needs to be playing 25+ minutes. Her defense just isn’t there and never will be. Her shot hasn’t been there this season. It was criminal that she took the most shots against Ohio State. If that happens again it’s a guaranteed loss.
Puckett is also too slow footed on D. Super offensive talent and a beautiful shot, but she can’t guard.

Having her back should at least make us at least on paper look like we could win the next seven games which puts you at 11 and 4 and 3 and 0 in the SEC. Where we go from there remains to be seen, but all seven of the next games are winnable and we should be the favorite in all of them. Two things can be true. The RIckea tease was obviously purposely timed bread crumbs tossed to the starving masses. But since I'm starving the f to death I didn't mind a bit. If you have good LV news right now by all means share it. It sure made my day.
I'm pretty sure they wouldn't tease if the thing weren't about to happen. Don't really expect for MTSU, probably needs to get a practice of two in. Maybe Sunday against cupcake EKU? Which would be one year almost to the day of her return fm the lil sit out last year. Long, strange trip
I don't expect RJ to be our complete savior any more than she already was. I probably am going to expect her to do it sooner than I should expect but I can't help it. Time is wasting. I want the LVs that played at Fla St, only play a smidge of D, hit a few free throws and hit that cursed last shot, which btw was the last shot RJ took in a game. How bad you think she wants that taste out of her mouth?
I want to go back to where the opponents have to defensive plan based on stopping her, or at least slowing her down. At Fla St, Jewel had 18 pts, Sara had 15 and Tess 10 and 9 rebounds. That's the space Rickea brings. So she doesn't even have to do a ton except be there to help us be better. Then there's all those points and rebounds . . .
Vol nation -- we want more information on when Rickea will return!!!. This secrecy is a moral outrage and a definite sign that something very, very nefarious must be going on.
[Kellie's staff provides more information]
Vol Nation - BOOO!! Providing more information on Rickea's status is just not a good look for Kellie....
We have now entered into the "damned if you do, damned if you don't" sphere.
Another month isn't sooner. And would be way too later to justify the tease. There's 9 days before a game after Sunday. I'd think they'd want her to knock a little rust off on those last two non conf games after xmas before throwing her into SEC play. She won't have played for two months by then.I agree I think that was the point of the post… she’s NOT out forever and sooner than later is true.
She did but did not have a concussion. One can play with a broken nose, but has to pass concussion protocol before one can play after a concussion. Are you sure Avery has a broken nose?
