Riots in England. Are we next?

Right. But, from what I have seen, the 'protests' have evolved into people looting stores. That has nothing to do with legit protests over what could possibly be police brutality.

We're on the same page then. I didn't know if there was somethin I had missed. It's unfortunate that the protest became a riot, since the rioter (most of whom probably don't even know what the original protest was about) have completely destroyed the protest's message.

By the way, I wasn't saying we are in imminent danger of anything. The guy asking for evidence that the poor are getting poorer. Are you serious? Or are you so insulated. If you don't see what's happening to the lower middle class in this country, then no evidence I could give will enlighten you in any way. I wish I hadn't started this thread, I feel like Jerry McGuire.:p Don't worry be happy :hi:everything is allright.

I know what you were meaning. Of course there's no evidence of stagnant to falling wages of the middle class. There's no unemployment problems. And, there's absolutely nothing to the record number of people on food stamps.

Even if I did, you would discount it. Droski, you're a smart dude, no doubt. But, I don't think you have a good sense of what a good portion of us outside Wall Street are going through.

Like clockwork. I mean no disrespect, but you can't see the forest for the trees that surround your office building.

Waste of effort. Later.

You just won the 'selfish bastard' award. I'm sure all the 'flat screen' buying middle class is applauding.

Droski, it's been freakin' happening for the last 40 years, and I've showed it ad infinitum where even I'm tired of doing it!

Why don't you go get back in your bubble and think happy thoughts and not worry about the real world outside the bubble....

Social cohesion is a function of relative access. That's why a lot of teenagers with shift working parent/s are running around their walkable communities looting the place with impunity.

I know you would want to gun them down a la New Orleans finest. It would be the bourgeois thing to do.

The "Welfare Mom" is a creature out of mythology. Like medusa, she doesn't exist in the real world. Stories of Cadillacs and flat screen TVs are amusing canards to inflame.

The "Welfare Dad," however, is a rare breed with a rare talent - the ability to suck the public coffers dry.

For real. This is America. Everybody knows nobody's buying stuff they can't afford.

if they don't exist then why:

Data from the Department of Energy and other agencies show that the average poor family, as defined by Census officials:

● Lives in a home that is in good repair, not crowded, and equipped with air conditioning, clothes washer and dryer, and cable or satellite TV service.

● Prepares meals in a kitchen with a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave as well as oven and stove.

● Enjoys two color TVs, a DVD player, VCR and — if children are there — an Xbox, PlayStation, or other video game system.

● Had enough money in the past year to meet essential needs, including adequate food and medical care.

Of course they can.

Is there a legitimate reason for income disparity? Yes. Can that disparity come at the expense of Jane's health and wellbeing? No.

Again, the bourgeois stories about the "welfare moms" driving cadillacs are canards, myths, falsehoods, etc.

And, right on cue, canards from the Heritage Foundation.
