Of course “free speech” will not keep you from getting fired - it is supposed to keep you from being charged (at least in this country). He didn't say hate speech is not protected by the constitution, which is the inference you guys made so you can pucker your butts about it. He's logically correct that hate speech is not free speech, but I don't think that's what he was trying to say because nobody needs to make that point. There are a few different ways you can try to guess his meaning. You aren't free to use hate speech because it's unacceptable. Hate speech isn't OK just because we have freedom of speech in this country. Or, you can conclude that he meant the government can/will/should be able to punish you for hate speech. There is no context here that would lead you to conclude he was talking about the government's involvement.
The concept of "free speech" is much broader than what the government's involvement entails.
I think he meant the bolded. Are you free to say the N word openly and keep your job? Probably not.

Jeremy Pruitt says hiSacked Twitter executives at risk of being denied $90m payout by Elon Musk
"....(Musk) dismissed top staff including chief executive 'for cause', suggesting they will not be entitled to golden goodbyes"
Twitter has lost over 5 billion in stock value since it banned several conservative sites...the site was never popular with the under 25 group and will now continue to struggle with newer platforms out. View attachment 338540

I’m not guessing his meaning. This is what he said - “So many damn unfit people saying hate speech is free speech.”
Hate speech IS Free speech. At least in this country.
So it was never about free speech, it was just about shoving it to those "left wingnuts".
Twitter went to $53.75 today, up about 20% from the time the OP proclaimed Twitter was dead.
Left Wingnuts are getting exactly what they had coming, IMO.
so anyway,,,,,, nanny nanny boo boooooo
This is the original post in this thread.
Much like the Biden and Harris tenure during this same time, It Simply Didn't Age Well.
LOL
Nope, I'm not a "wingnut".NO, I don't think I will allow you to twist my words in some sort of liberal fashion just to distort what I said to fit into the wingnut narrative bouncing around inside your head.
I said the OP proclaimed Twitter was dead, and that statement didn't age well as the stock has since gone up 20%. I stand by that statement.
I also said that Left Wingnuts are getting exactly what they had coming, IMO. I also stand by that statement.
For what it's worth, I don't tweet. Never have. However In MY Opinion anyone with half a brain and paying even a miniscule amount of attention can see that twitter promotes the ultra left and hates anything right of center. This is a fact and can hardly be debated, at least not by me here on volnation.
So anyway, I never said anything about free speech nor shoving anything anywhere. I said the original statement didn't age well and the wingnuts got what they had coming.
Are you a wingnut?
Much ado about nothing. There is a reason he is pushing this for the Intercept and not in court.@zeppelin128 is this all much ado about nothing? at all concerning?
I am explicitly talking about the government’s involvement wrt “free speech”. I am not talking about getting fired for dropping n-bombs in the breakroom.Again, free speech is a much broader concept than what the government's involvement entails.
You can say "hate speech isn't supposed to be infringed upon by the government." and that would be accurate, but that's a much more narrow statement than "hate speech is free speech" which actually doesn't even make sense. There is no indication that Lebron was talking about the government.
You can say "hate speech is protected speech" which makes sense and would be accurate with regard to the government, but he's talking about Twitter where it is not protected (or hasn't been, at least).
But saying God **** is perfectly acceptable because it only insults ChristiansHe didn't say hate speech is not protected by the constitution, which is the inference you guys made so you can pucker your butts about it.
