Social media company X on Monday sued media watchdog group Media Matters, alleging the organization defamed the platform after it published a report that said ads for major brands had appeared next to posts touting Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party.

Once I saw the headlines, I was waiting for this article. He makes a really good point. Elon essentially admitting the numbers are right demonstrates the flimsy nature of this suit. He doesn't like the manipulation that made these into true facts, but it's not defamatory to say something that happened happened.

Media Matters is garbage but you don't just "stand with X" because they are the victims of a hit piece. Give me an actual reason I should stand with X? It was supposed to be the free speech platform and it's not any better than it was 2 years ago when I was boycotting the site. It's actually harder to stomach now because of the hypocrisy. At least before they weren't lying about being a free speech platform.

Why do you stand with X?

I don't agree with your premise that twitter was more "free speech" before Musk.

The hypocrisy on the left is in full view given Media Matters had to fabricate an outrage of hate speech and antisemitism to negatively impact the company. MM is notorious for these hit piece articles against conservative groups and individuals and it looks like they are in for a fight after their latest.

I didn't say it was more free speech before. I said it's not better now. I already blasted MM in my reply to you. You ignore my question, misrepresent my position, and focus on the hypocrisy of the entire left instead of Twitter, who this thread is about.

They're banning people for insulting Elon. They're banning people for impersonations. They're banning words that aren't even offensive, but OK. Not to mention they are bending the knee to authoritarian governments like Turkey....it's better now because you don't care or aren't aware of the speech that isn't allowed.

It's funny because the thread literally started that way, but all those people originally saying that it was curtains have probably flip flopped, even tho it's in worse shape now.

Who said it would be dead "by now"?
