LOL.
Remember how I told y'all 1000x that government shouldn't interfere, that we need section 230 for good reason, and that a market solution is preferable, and all of this is usually what conservatives profess to believe?....
Amazing how the market solved it without having to ruin the internet, right? Conservatives should have stuck to their principles on this. It's such a disappointing look and just one more reason why I no longer am a right-leaning libertarian.
Just a guess but I would suspect "small government" in lifting some social restrictions, and reducing the military. Apart from those, it's difficult for me to see any small government advocates from either party.I’m still trying to figure out how you come to the conclusion that Dems were for small government in that time frame .
The republicans gave lip service to that and budget responsibility more recently than the Democrats but the reality is Bill Clinton was the last of the political figures from either party that cared about financial responsibility. Neither side is even pretending anymoreJust a guess but I would suspect "small government" in lifting some social restrictions, and reducing the military. with military service (& not a hunter biden direct commission type of service), someone with skin in the gameI would think former governors would be more geared toward fiscal responsibility. I know it didn’t work out with Bush. But generally speaking, I’d prefer someone coming out of state government versus someone who’s spent a lifetime in DC in close proximity to the money printer.
I cannot agree fully about Clinton caring about fiscal responsibility. I can absolutely agree the combination of him and the Congressional leadership was the only time spending dropped. It was brief but it happened. Total receipts to the federal government increased the most as did GDP in those 8 years as well. The republicans gave lip service to that and budget responsibility more recently than the Democrats but the reality is Bill Clinton was the last of the political figures from either party that cared about financial responsibility. Willy did move closer to centrist in term 2 whereas Obama went farther left. The republicans gave lip service to that and budget responsibility more recently than the Democrats but the reality is Bill Clinton was the last of the political figures from either party that cared about financial responsibility.
