Fall camp injuries doesn't surprise me. What does alarm me is the rate at which they are happening! We are only just now beginning week 2 of fall camp and already we are FOUR players down! Jeez are all the injuries just freak accidents or is CBJ running THAT physical of a camp?

Prepare yourselves now for a disappointing season

Injuries will just add to the mountain CBJ has to climb

Really nothing to prepare for. It's been the the norm the last 5 years. Expect to be disappointed, and hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised when good things happen.

This is exactly how I approach it.

30 Max Arnold DB 5-11 188 RS SO McKenzie, Tenn./McKenzie
31 Tino Thomas DB 6-0 206 RS FR Memphis, Tenn./Melrose
33 LaDarrell McNeil DB 6-1 199 SO Dallas, Texas/Wilmer-Hutchins HS
35 JaRon Toney DB 5-10 184 RS JR Alcoa, Tenn./Alcoa
37 Brian Randolph DB 6-0 199 RS SO Marietta, Ga./Kell

Can we find 8 guys from this list to field a solid group of starters and backups? Plus, we do have athletic guys (Dallas for example) in the WR corps that probably were recruited as DB's too. Our situation is not perfect, and we all knew it wasn't, so CB has to be creative.

How did you know it would happen? Are you suggesting it is something the staff is doing?

Injuries happen all the time, so it was bound to strike another player. There will be more before the season starts as well. We have 4 guys out from 2 weeks of practice. We have 2 more weeks remaining so you can assume there will be more.

OK lets look at the STATS.

There have been NONE of the Kiffin recruits that have gotten injured so far this year.

So, what does that tell us?

EXACTLY!!!!!

Injuries will pile up with depth issues and inexperience. Guys are being worked and tested harder to prepare for a tough season. Younger guys that have less training and conditioning tend to fall to injuries more as well. The coaches try to compensate but there is a fine line on pushing guys harder to be prepared and keeping them healthy for the start of the season.

Until Butch gets his team built and more depth and experience the likelihood of this will increase. It's a tough balance for coaches but with the experience of this staff I have decent confidence they make the right decisions. That does not mean a successful season in overall record but it does mean they make smart decisions for the overall future of the program. These are big picture guys, not short term fluff happiness ones.

I'm tired of rebuilding. I'm getting older, and I would like to see the Vols start winning consistently again before they put in a home where someone has to wipe my .....
