i understand man. no worries. doesnt mean im all down in the dumps about it. i just simply said the depth is really bad. thats all.

I understand and agree cb is a huge concern. I must admit I had high hopes for Riyahd. Hopefully the injury will not be as serious as it apparently looks. Peace

i thought at this point he was our most important recruit, if he cant go by Oregon god forbid the entire season that would be tough

Per usual, Volnation freaks out. He was a 3rd string corner the last few practice. I don't think the sky is falling due to losing a 3rd stringer. Will it hurt depth? Absolutely. Just remember he was getting beat out by 2 true freshmen and a walk on.

You're still losing depth. You're still losing someone who could give quality reps in practice against our starting O. Anytime you lose anyone on your roster, it's a negative!

I'm very concerned at the rate that we are losing guys in camp! We are only into the 2nd week of fall camp and we already are down 4 guys, ALL on defense!

Of course anytime you lose someone it's negative. I'm just not ready to panic when the only 2 guys we have lost for a significant period of time have never played a down for UT and are 3rd string at this point.

Strange how all injuries have been on Defense. We are getting to the point now where we can't afford another loss on that side of the ball.

I like Sutton. From everything I've seen it seems like he was probably gonna beat out Riyahd for the other starting corner spot anyways. It does suck depth-wise. But it just means the younger guys have to step up.

Dallas has much more opportunity to get on the field on defense, so I do not feel bad for him at all. This is football at the University of Tennessee. Dude is lucky and probably having a blast. Now he finally gets to hit somebody. I always pictured him as being much more effective as a DB.

Football never makes or breaks me

The reality is that we are too short on depth to afford to lose anyone on the depth chart

We were going to have a hard road even if we stay 100% healthy

The roster to be concerned about is the one that suits up vs WKU. Right now you can make roster moves and get guys ready to play. There's plenty of time. When they get into the season, you don't have that luxury.

All of the injured guys I have heard about should be back by around WKU except for R Jones. If UT comes through that clean... then abnormal injury levels won't tank the season. Injuries always occur and should have been factored into expectations before now. Every team will have them and almost all of them will hurt their teams' performance. A very few like maybe Bama can seamlessly plug someone in at every position.

If we are putting an experienced WR at right corner "because of the situation there," then the right corner situation must be bad. I fear the defense will be a serious problem again this year.

difference is those teams have way more depth than we do so it doesnt hurt as bad. and we have been saying for five years we are rebuilding

That's not necessarily true. Bama and a few others have great depth. But most of the teams UT will play would have similar problems replacing injured players. There is a significant talent drop off at many positions at USCe, UK, Vandy, Mizzou, Auburn, and to a lesser degree at UF, UGA, and Oregon. All of those schools will have to plug someone in if they have pre-season injuries that will NOT be of the same quality as the starter.

Sure could have used Bonner about now. KPD would probably have to add staff tho. I guess it's a wash.

Hate to hear it....Seems like there have been quite a bit of negative news coming out of camp so far, Hope it isn't a sign of things to come.

There's panic here but think about it for just a moment in full context. R Jones was apparently dropping through the depth chart after being a penciled in starter leaving spring. He was proving himself not to be the guy when facing the best UT can throw out there at WR (that was not the case in the spring by wide measure). All this means the coaches just about HAD to be thinking of moving VD over anyway. His injury just means his improvement is no longer something that could be hoped for.
