Well they are one of the few schools that Hubbs is "definitely visiting." So I'd say they have a legitimate shot at him.
Nichols, on the other hand, hasn't sounded too enthusiastic about Auburn in his interviews. But if Auburn is able to land Hubbs, who knows what will happen with Nichols.
Hubbs doesn't have a big list, you get 5 officials. So him saying he's gonna officially visit auburn could be nothing more than a respect visit to miller.
I'll refuse to believe they're a legitimate contender until 1. He committs there or 2. They make a top 2 or 3 list.
"Duke Report got the chance to catch up with Hubbs III last night and discuss his recruitment. Easily the most intriguing comment he made was when he said Auburn and Tennessee would get two official visits and Duke would likely be the third. He has already taken trips to Missouri, Vanderbilt, Memphis, Auburn and North Carolina State and something that's important to him is being able to play right away. The Volunteers look to be the early favorite for Hubbs but Auburn, Duke and Missouri are also legitimate contenders."
*From the Duke rag, 8-04-12, posted here somewhere.
You're in denial about Auburn. This is a list of his 3 favorites: UT, Auburn, and (maybe) Duke (official visit).
This is the article that said UT was the favorite; can't you accept the rest of it? Do you have to see "UT is my absolute, unequivical favorite with Duke a limp 2nd followed by some school in Alabama?"
Well, when he's making officials to three schools, it's a pretty standard assumption.
If he was taking an official as well, ashe is for Auburn, yes, it would mean that they are a legitmate contender.
is he only taking 3 officials, if so then yes i agree, because thatd mean those are his top 3. however, he has made it sound he'll take all 5 of his visits, therefore it doesnt mean a whole lot.
much like with nichols. you have said yourself i believe that you dont think mizzou or uva are serious contenders for nichols, yet he's going to official to both.
if it wasnt for his connection going there i would put more stock into it, but to me its just a respect visit and interest, much like with nichols and auburn.
its possible nichols takes an official to auburn, does that mean theyre a serious contender?
Possibly.
But you're ignoring the fact that Hubbs had interest in Auburn before Miller got there. He had already been on an unofficial visit there pre-Miller.
If they're getting officials, they are contenders. Anything can happen on an official visit with these kids. They may not lead for Austin, but they can be contenders.
no im not ignoring that, he took alot of unofficials, it was listed above.
the fact nichols is also likely visiting auburn just makes me think its out of respect for miller. the only thing thats going to convince me otherwise like ive said is 1. a committment or 2. auburn being listed in the top 2 or 3
You are free to your opinion. I think there's more to it than that, especally since Austin sounds high on playing with Hubbs. Both are interested in Auburn. Auburn is very interested in them.
That coupled with the connection to the staff they have at Auburn makes Auburn a contender.
hmm i couldve sworn i remember you saying atleast one of those schools wasnt a serious contender, maybe im misremembering.
so when king takes officials to vandy, texas and tennessee, you're conceding that all of them are serious contenders?
kids take officials all the time, and both parties involved realize there really is no serious issue. its a free trip, why not visit one of these schools on a football weekend to catch a good game first hand? it happens all the time, cmon.
Look, in the end, all of these kids are going to disappoint every school except one. I'm just saying, a school that a kid takes an official visit to is usually a contender.
I said Nichols probably won't commit to UVA or Vandy. Memphis is most likely out too, unless something changes. Vandy is an intriguing newcomer< so to speak.
Auburn may be the least of our worries. Per this story, Hubbs said KY, Kansas and UCLA have entered the picture and that may delay his decision until Spring.
