Robert Marve

Charles transfered HS to Plant in Tampa, FL this year so he had a great QB to play with. I don't know what the link is between them because Marve was in the class of 2007.

Kiffin should jump on this and get Marve to UT!!! He's the real deal---can throw on the run, has a good arm, etc.

This is according to his father. No ACC, SEC, or in state schools which pretty much rules out about every school he had interest in transferring to.

The football gods are determined for one of our qb's to take the field for the next two seasons

that's weird that it includes the SEC...cuz like you said "no other Florida schools" so who else in the SEC is Miami worried about playing besides UF

says he intends to fight the stipulations:

The Hurricanes quarterback was granted a release to transfer on Tuesday, University of Miami sports information spokesman Kerwin Lonzo said. But the release stipulations have infuriated the Marve family, and they intend to fight them.
Eugene Marve told The Miami Herald that ``Shannon is trying to bar Robert from playing for any ACC school or any SEC school or any school in Florida. This goes in relationship with his contempt for and arrogance toward my son, Robert.

``Shannon gave him the release with that stipulation. I've never heard of that before. The ACC [ban] is reasonable. The SEC is ridiculous. There are a lot of schools in the SEC that never see Miami. This has gone to a personal attack against my son, and it will not go without challenge. This is a shameful day that Shannon has brought to the University of Miami. This is a shameful day for Randy Shannon and what he represents, and every recruit should watch out for what you're seeing happening to Robert Marve.

Wow. This doesn't look very good on Shannon at all. I know he doesn't want him transferring to Florida, but he could have said that instead of ANY SEC school. That's ridiculous. I wish Marve good luck in his fight whether he comes here or not.

Makes me feel even better about how Kiffin handled the recruits he wasn't interested in (Boyd, etc). I want a coach who coaches to win, but you don't have to give up integrity to do it. That being said, has Miami or Shannon either one confirmed that's how it went, or are we going on the dad's version only?

I would assume that is how it went. Coaches can give releases with conditions involved. The can't go inside the conference is common, the entire conference of another conference is very rare.

Agree with you on how Kiffin has handled it. Compared to Mullen and Shannon, we have a classy recruiter on our hands.

I still kind of stunned that Shannon would put a block on a player like that. Also, I am wondering how this is legal unless it was stipulated in the contract before he signed with Miami. I would love to hear from the VN lawyers on this subject.

The bad thing about this is I dont know why we care what happens to this kid. I hope he finds a school other than TN to transfer into.

He has expressed interest in our program.

You think he could be any worse than the 3 we had on campus last year?

I think it could be that they don't have to give a release to him at all, so if they do give it to him, they're allowed to put their own stipends on it. Most of the time, schools won't let you transfer to an opponent they play sometime in the next 4 years.
