Robert Marve

Yes I do. At least the three we got go to class and stay out of trouble.

Yea laying out of class is a Class A felony.

And he had a vandalism charge a few years ago...

We've all made mistakes. I trust that CLK can make the right judgment on this kid's character.

I think it could be that they don't have to give a release to him at all, so if they do give it to him, they're allowed to put their own stipends on it. Most of the time, schools won't let you transfer to an opponent they play sometime in the next 4 years.

But if they don't release him wouldn't they be forced to honor his scolly? With only 85 available you'd think they would be a little more flexible vs waisting one....

Not really, they could probably be cut loose from it, because of a violation of team rules or whatever. It's just the letter of intent they don't have to release him from, and if you have a letter of intent for a school, you can't play anywhere else.

I'm not positive on any of it though, this is just what I'm thinking about it.

Like, just because we took Colquitts scholarship doesn't mean that he could have went and played at UF or anything

Nevertheless, this could certainly be some bad PR for Shannon and The U... And you can bet your bottom dollar that a few Coaches will point this out on the recruiting trail.

In my book when school is being paid for by the university that is the trade off. You go to class, pass, and we foot the bill. We get football out of you. So if you cant go to class you cant play ball. Yes it is a class A felony when your an athlete at this level.

He was punished for not going to class. He has already paid his debt to society...

Miami QB to transfer; Tennessee a possible destination : Football : GoVolsXtra.com

This sounds like a "possible" solution for our qb situation. Some say he's a problem child though. Other articles stated that he was late to a class bc of talking to a professor at the previous class & his tartiness was counted for an absence.

In all reality R. Marve was the 8th ranked pro QB in the 07 class, ranking a 4* with rivals. Don't forget though BJ Coleman was the 10th ranked pro style QB & also a 4*. Marve will have to negotiate some more with Shannon his coach & the Miami AD to get some freedom in choosing a school, & UT is a real possibility. If allowed he will still loose a year per NCAA rules. That still dosen't help our chances for next year, but maybe for the future. BUT with BJ being the crowd fav there could be some competition, but that usually makes them better...usually!

He's blocked from the SEC, ACC, and any Florida schools.

Very doubtful he gets here. Even if he does, him sitting out a year is about worthless, as we'll have a stud QB coming in, and most likely, start as a freshman.

Faith in Kiff's recruiting is good, but until we land a big man & get him on campus all options have to be on the table. We shoot down a utility QB in Boyd, and have no other real options for QB at all in the 09 class. Long shots at best. Our best solution is that we better develop the talent we have, bring in Marve (if all the transfering works in our favor) and have a QB for next year as well.

By the way. Stafford at UGA struggled as a freshman & even battled 2 other QBs for playing time. The whole starting freshman hot shot scheme wins some games but not the ones that matter. Ex. J Clausen-ND/ T. Pryor-Oh St/ even E. Ainge (these 4 with some exceptions) Therefore, the probability of us getting a stud true freshman & him starting day 1 & him being effective is a streeeeettttchchchch.

I think it's just a good sign that Heaps has interest in us, Watters as well, and we have a direct pipeline to Sims. It seems that we're set, and will sign at least one of them.

And sure he won't be great as a freshman, especially with the schedule we'll be playing, but I'd say it's better to develop a true freshman QB who will most likely be at least similar in ability to a junior who hasn't played a real game of football in over a year.

Also, I doubt Marve ends up at UT due to the stipulations. We might as well put all out chips in on Coleman or Stephens for the next two years until we can get a great youngster in the next class or two. Heaps will be a master. Watters and Simms are both great prospects as well so I agree we land at least one of them.

Tartiness?:eek:hmy: I got a laugh out of that one. :eek:lol:
If the man's gotten himself in trouble for being a tart, then he shouldn't be in a football uniform. He should be plying his trade on the streets of Miami's red light district. Tardiness, however, is an excusable offense.

Apparently Marve is blocked from the SEC because Miami's Shannon believes Kiffin and possibly other SEC schools tampered with Marve before the transfer was official. Lane was seen talking to him at his old High School's game.

So you would be OK with him coming here doing the same things.

He should have learned his lesson. And if he didn't, then have him on a short leash.

CLK could put him on his "last strike" list with the other 8 players.

I just don't see why the kid is getting chastised for missing class. It's not like he is the first to have ever done it. Especially in college sports...

Not going to class---no big deal. A lot of college kids skip class after hard nights of partying.

Although what i've saw of marve doesn't make me giddy. He has a strong arm and might fit well in kiffin's system. He is a upgrade over what we have, although minimal in my opinion.

Link to this info?

I don't really see us getting Marve. I don't really see that he would be a benefit to us either. With him having to sit out a year and some of his off the field issues he has had at Miami, I think the scholarship would be better used by going after a big time QB recruit in 2010.

He's not one of those guys you are begging and hoping he comes.

But then again if you look at what we have on campus, another strong-armed human capable of breathing wouldn't hurt
