Roe vs Wade Overturned

I would say the reason people don’t look into local government much is simple put it’s a losing battle for most people . If u live in a predominantly red or blue state winning local elections as the other party is nearly impossible.

LOL

That isn't the point CW is trying to make.

I know I’m explaining my personal opinion on why the local elections are not considered important based on my personal experiences

People don't think local and state elections are important because the federal government has entirely too much power over their lives so they pay more attention to them.

Right now these are gigs that people don't want. When the money comes... corrupt people will want them. They will become just as unwieldy though on a smaller scale.

Vote them out or don’t vote them in to start with . People like Pelosi, Turtle , Schumer Biden etc .. they all thrive in the giant boondoggle that is the federal government for decades . Narrow their power , put local pressure back on them , make them actually do something for their local governments . When we start electing better officials on a local level and putting hard expectations on them instead of expecting the federal government to do something , I’ll bet the quality of federal government officials we elect will rise also ( eventually ) .

I actually do believe that if states get more power u will see ALOT more separation in each state then now and the possibility of a newer Confederate States of America . Take that info however u want
So you don't believe states have the power to secede? States on both sides of the political spectrum have threatened it for various reasons.

The way u just replied to that is slightly disturbing . U didn’t even say that a Confederate States of America is a bad thing
Slavery was a bad thing. The idea of states dissatisfied with a federal government not meeting their needs and breaking off to form their own country is not a bad thing. As long as they have the support of their citizens.

If being around like-minded people is that important to you, move somewhere you are surrounded by like-minded people.

Then he screwed up bigly by giving the Courts too much power. I for one don't believe it was a screw up. But again... opinions. Everybody wants absolutes and they don't really exist in the law or its application by people.

That’s an odd take from a man who supports Roe v Wade which represented a massive power grab. How do you reconcile those two views?

I was speaking more to the increase of separation between states. Let California be California. Let Tennessee be Tennessee. Let NY be NY and Utah be Utah.

If people would dial back their activism and quit trying to govern a state thousands of miles from their own I think we might see the political hatred tone down a little.

100%. There's far less reason for me to care what California is doing if it doesn't effect me.

Take a step back and think about what you just said. You believe states are more likely to go to war with each other because they get to make their own laws? I don't see any logical basis in that. In fact, it's the opposite of what RBG said when she claimed the Roe v Wade decision created political controversy that did not need to be.

You create anger/resentment by forcing laws on an entire nation from the top down rather than from allowing people to make their own laws. The Confederacy didn't form due to differences in laws. The Confederacy formed due to national level laws. No one would be upset/go to war over being given sovereignty.

In general I agree...but have you seen some of the people on the left?

If they ain't being told what to believe, do, etc., they'd be lost. They're all for less sovereignty.

Australia, Germany , France , Spain and all of the United Kingdom have centralized government . Honestly more of top country’s use centralized government then anything else

u lost me here . Most if not all of those country’s are considered ( Better ) then the United States for there citizens

1. Germany, France, and Spain all have far stricter abortion laws than we do. Those "countries" would be considered "states" here due to their size. The EU is a far better comparison to the US than any one of those countries given how small they are relative to the US. Larger populations=more diverse populations=more diverse opinions. Trying to force rules from the top down is absurd.

2. You listed a bunch of countries that are closer to MS in terms of per capita GDP than they are the US average. So I'm not sure how poverty can make you "better". Idk what standard/metric you're using, but it definitely isn't an economic indicator.

Per capita GDP
Spain 27,000
France 38,600
Germany 45,700
Australia 52,000
US 63,500

Mississippi (dead last in the US)-42,000
Arkansas (second to last in the US)-48000

So Germany would be second to last in the US, and Australia would be ranked somewhere around 7-9th (competing with New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Kentucky) from last depending on which year you look at.

Do you consider those states (MS, AR, NM, OK, and KY) to be "better than the US" in general?

Or can we agree it's insane to pretend those places are better?

Is it easier to move to a new city/county/state or a new country if you strongly disagree with how things are being done?
