Romney campaign caught lying, red handed

Obama has 4 dead bodies and Romney has a mistimed statement. How is Obama winning?

these protests actually represent a huge foreign policy blunder by Obama since he supported then just a year or 2 before. Heck he still chooses to meet with some of them over Israel

Only way Obama wins this is to remove all US personnel and cancel all checks written to their governments. Until then he's losing (but it won't be how the media tells the story)
He'll never do it, but if Romney would tack a little Libertarian on this one and say a little something about it being time to honestly evaluate how we're spending our military and economic resources abroad, he'd Be able to tie back into an economic discussion and have a winning moment.

I would heartily endorse that but it seems too simple for it to actually work

Where do you get Obama agrees with that statement ?

Obama is a hawk or as close to one as I have ever saw a Dem be.

He don't apologize, he sends a drone.

Is he a hawk or just pragmatic enough to realize that despite campaign promises, he couldn't pull the plug on a place like Afghanistan without consequences?

You are correct, imo.

I don't think Romney will do that for fear it would make him look weak concerning the military.

I think this ordeal now is because Romney was trying to look strong on foreign policy.

No, because even if you attribute the embassy statement to Obama, it is absolutely 100 % dead wrong to say that the embassy statement was the first reaction to the attacks. The attacks had not happened yet.

Why is it so hard for you and Romney supporters to just admit he got this one wrong?

I doubt that Romney himself was clued into that, by the way. And he's probably pretty po'd right now at whoever put that all together for him, and got such a key component wrong. As Gramps says, though, the unreasonable and indeed irrational refusal to simply correct it after it became clear that the embassy statement was not in reference to the attacks would have avoided all of this hoopla that now surrounds Romney's errant original statement.

That is where I really fault the campaign at this point.

The embassy already pulled back the statement and Obama distanced himself from them. So obviously it was a poor statement.

Afghanistan is a mistake. We need out of there. It is nothing but a lose lose for the US.

I agree it is a game both sides are playing. This is just one instance that Obama is winning.

Romney should have backed down from his original statement at his presser Wednesday morning after having some details.

We had an embassy being attached and Romney makes his statement critizing the White House. My argument is he should have played nice Tuesday night, waited until Wednesday morning for some details of the event before addressing the issue in any way.

This ,along with his 3 nation trip blunders reflects bad on how he may handle foreign policy.

Agree with most though I think the trip blunders thing was way overblown - it is what it is but his trip to Poland in particular was very positive though the press was hung up on his supposed major blunders.

I'd say neither. I think he sees the Afghan/Pakistan thing as one where he can get some FP wins via drones without much negative political fallout.

Overall, I don't think he has a foreign policy other than "lead from behind" whatever that means. I don't think our allies or enemies really have a firm grasp of what an Obama doctrine looks like.

Is the Obama doctrine not a carry over of the Bush Doctrine ?

Who is advising these guys? First Romney is criticizing foreign policy before the bodies have even left Libya. Now Obama is making campaign speeches with riots going on around Embassies and at times in a split screen on the news channels. It just looks bad.

I agree. We will never win the hearts and minds of the Muslim dominated countries. It's time to withdraw from all of them completely and to stop purchasing oil from them all together.

The amount of press on Romney's comments as opposed to the attacks themselves and implications just shows how poor the US media is.

Agree.

We'll see if there's any credibility left now with this "Egypt is not our ally" gaffe.

Mitt talking to George Stephanopoulos yesterday in an interview for GMA.

While trying to not back down from his remarks, it appears he has softens his position somewhat. He now says he reached the same conclusion the White House did.

EXCLUSIVE: Romney on Obama’s ‘Shoot First, Aim Later’ Attack - ABC News

In our interview today, Mitt Romney did not back down from his belief that the Obama administration’s first response to the Cairo protest demonstrated “sympathy” for the attackers, but he also made it clear that he was ready to move on.

“What I said was exactly the same conclusion the White House reached, which was that the statement was inappropriate. That’s why they backed away from it as well,” Romney told me.

The Cairo Embassy’s statement, released before it was attacked, said it rejects “the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.”

When I pointed out that the White House did not say the embassy’s statement showed sympathy for the attackers, Romney stuck by his remarks.

“Well, I think the statement was an inappropriate statement. I think it was not directly applicable and appropriate for the setting. I think it should have been taken down. And apparently the White House felt the same way,” he said.

This story is getting out of hand.

This may be the straw that hands Obama the election unless something major happens, this is going to be a big win for Obama.

Obama is pulling ahead in the polls. Michigan has been moved from, a toss up to Obama.
Obama is hitting that 49-50% point in the polls.

RCP is RCP electoral count today is Obama 237 Romney 191 with 110 tossups, The latest state polls out, the NBC/WSJ/Marist poll has Obama leading in :

Florida 49%- 44%

Ohio 50%-43%

Virginia 49%-44%

It is looking like 4 more years of Obama.

Edited : I mistakely put Obama was leading in all toss ups, I rechecked and Romey is shown leading in North Carolina and Missouri.

Obama got it wrong when he said that Egypt is not an ally.

And his administration quickly admitted and corrected the error.

That is the difference between Obama and Romney. Romney makes a mistake and, when called out on it, they don't fix it. Instead they whine that the media coverage is unfair.

No wonder Obama is crushing him in this election.

I laughed, especially in light of the equivocation regarding the economy they didn't understand well enough.
