Romney what are you doing???

You'd think that after Jennifer Granholm's lunatic rant at the DNC and the images of perfectly good homes being bulldozed in Detroit, the people of Michigan would come to the realization that the democrats have turned a once great state into the Albania of North America.

I think it's much more troubling that the Romney camp has gotten no traction in Pennsylvania. Obama won big in 2008 but Gore and Kerry squeaked out wins there. That's a state that republicans should at least be competitive in, especially in these economic conditions.

the Romney campaign needs to start hammering away at the mounting job losses in the coal industry as a result of Obama's "energy" plan

She was pathetic at the DNC.

Clint and his chair got more airtime but Granholm came across as a complete nutcase. I could not believe anyone in her position would ever act so bad.

The Romney camp has screwed the pooch on many occasions during the election. It's still mind-boggling to me that they basically took the entire summer off. They could have had mounted an offensive and built up a solid lead. Instead they bought into the "the economy sucks will win easily" mantra. That's not working out well is it?

anyone who thought Romney was going to walk away with a win is naive. Even with the economy as bad as it is, when you have a media willing to continue to blame Bush and absolve Obama and the democrats of any fiscal malfeasance, any GOP nominee was going to have a tough time gaining traction in the polls.

Also, until he was officially the nominee, which he wasn't over the summer, he was restrained by FEC rules regarding spending money.

Jennifer granholm would lick Obama's taint for a Klondike bar.

I understand the spending limits, but they still could have done a lot more to help his reputation. Your right about the media, just look at his trip abroad. Still, there was and is a lack of a coherent message.

That's why the GOP has targeted 750,000 Democratic voters to get kicked off the rolls to combat the voter fraud, of which there is virtually no evidence.

Romney tax returns was the beginning of the end, imo.

Actually, it's not. George W. Bush spent money like it was falling from the sky. In his administration, government spending went up at the fastest rate since the middle of World War Two.

I don't dispute that.

However, you must also acknowledge that Obama came into office and one-upped the hell out of him.

Thus, become the new and undefeated "king of borrowing and spending."

Good day, sir.

The food stamp king is clearly a better choice..... Captain tax and spend liberal is definitely a champion of the people.....

It's a shame Obama replaced King reduce tax and spend. No child left behind, Medicare Part D (hey that's socialist), uneccesary Iraq war. The difference between dems and republicans (not what they claim to be, but what they are) is that Obama wants to impose an individual mandate to make people all contribute to a program that everyone will probably use (unless you die instantlly, you will spend at least a day in a hospital). Republicans are the party of personal responsability, yet complain about having to pay into a program that 99% will use. I was fortunate to have insurance before, but it has not changed at all despite the warnings of the right. This country has many problems. We need tax reform, and not just on the rich. You cannot justify raising taxes on one group (the wealthy) while half the population pays nothing. I would think long and hard about doing away with the EEC, especially as long as it rewards the poor for procreating. I would also make the capital gains taxable at pre-Bush-Clinton (yes, he sold out too (Glass/Steagle)}rates. Income is income. The truth is that we need real tax reform. We can't have a flat tax because treats such as the mortgage deduction have been engrained so deeply into our psyche that we can't make it happen overnight barring a national disaster. I hope we can "eventually" change as a nation for the better.

Agree with most of your post. Especially regarding spending and tax reform.

I can't speak for most, but my biggest issues with govt health care are:

1- I don't trust the govt to run anything competently. Look what politicians have done with Social Security.

2- We already had in place health care benefits for the poor: Medicaid. It's hardly in good financial position and overall there is a high level of dissatisfaction with it.

3- Even if you think it's the right thing to do, we simply can't afford it. The country is broke.

On a side note, I'm in your situation that my health care plan has not been affected...yet. I know some people who have already been affected by it, though. I believe that once it's fully implemented, it will affect all of us. The outcome is the only unknown.

Tax reform would fix a lot of the arguments the Left run on. In fact it would basically kill their platform. The truth is... There are a lot of things they could do to help people and they just seem to blow hot air around a lot up on the hill. The system is pretty much broken. No matter which side of the fence you're on we're losing in this deal either way....

it's still a long way until November. As the 47% quote fades from voters' memories, Obama will have to confront: foreign policy blunders; growing national debt; and unemployment.

then again, once Obama is forced to talk about his record, the media will gin up another "controversy" or "gaffe."

Yes a lot can happen in 7 weeks.

Romney has had a bad run since the GOP convention.

There is plenty of time to turn it around. He is going to have to quit making dumb comments.

The 1st debate is going to be key, imo.

I have said this several times, some type of major events could also happen to change the race.

Romney is catching heat from several major republicans, maybe he will listen to them and make some changes.
So far he has been a terrible candidate.

The liberal media is working on another controversy now.

Mitt is on video saying what he and Ann have they made on their own without family help. There are a couple of interviews that Ann did where she is talking about Mitts Dad giving them stock that they cashed out slowly to live on and Mitts dad provided the money for their first home. She laughed a little when she said they did not work, lived free and made money on the home when they sold it.
That appears to be the next media smear tactic.

Gramps, the media is being overly harsh on the campaign and basically why do you care? You are not voting for him, you are not donating to his campaign, so why do you care?

Unions, Tea Party and anti-Mormon gun clingers are hurting him. If Tom Corbett comes on strong in support then he'll do ok.

Post 271 in this thread... I just stated the media was working on their next smear tactic of Romney.
The media has been very unfair to Romney at the same time Romney keeps saying dumb things to feed the media ammo.

Because I do not support Romney, I am not allowed to care about the POTUS election or who our next president may be. That is some logic there VNSF.

I am not a Democrat nor am I a Republican. I have voted in every POTUS in my adult life. I plan to exercise my right to vote in the 2012 election. I plan on voting for Gary Johnson. I am done trying to figure which of the major party candidates is the lesser of two evils and vote based on that.

I'll keep this copied to my clipboard for the next time you feel like posting about the turnouts in Obama's campaign stops.
