Romney's VP pick

I'm a middle class guy with a wife, child and mortgage. I'm not poor, and I'm not rich. I go to work 50 hours a week, actually working on real products that have real world use. I'm educated, responsible, a net tax payer, have my own healthcare, and I am saving for my own retirement.

I think one of the biggest problems with American politics is I don't find either of the two big presidential tickets is looking out for my interests. Both will screw me, just from different sides and in different ways.

How do you feel you get screwed?

At what point of military spending would you feel safe? We already spend more money on defense than any nation on Earth. How many nuclear weapons do you need? We already have enough to destroy the world many times over

That is a comment based in ignorance. Very little of the defense budget is spent on nuclear weapons. In fact, we are dismantling a lot of what we have. Defense spending goes toward supporting troops, replenishing ammo stock piles, and purchasing hardware (i.e. tanks, planes, helicopters, etc). When you fly on one of the newer, more efficient airliners, where do you think the advanced materials came from to build that engine? Where do you think the materials to build the space shuttle were developed? NASA? Don't be stupid. DOE and DOD are necessary funding in this country. The problem with the current admin is that they have used massive amounts of DOE funding to increase regulatory authority and fund companies for campaign donors while slashing our military and DOD funding. Yes slashing DOD funding. We are at out lowest military levels in DECADES. I think there IS enough WASTE and PORK in DC to balance the budget.

He already has a pretty high profile. I would not want to touch the Romney campaign at this point. What does he have to gain?

I were him, I would continue my high profile in the House of Representatives as the face of fiscal responsibility and wait low until 2016 rolls around and make my move then.

Reelect Nobama and there won't be a 2016 to make a move on. 4 more years of this regime and the only people making money will be the politburo, lawyers, and pro athletes.

If true, that speaks volumes of Mitt Romney if he truly believes Paul Ryan is his ticket to the White House. He's dumber than I thought, oh boy, who should my write-in vote be for?

Romney.....this election is about socialism vs. free market capitalism. Nothing else. If you think there is anything else involved, you are kidding yourself.

Ryan is very popular among seniors.

And BTW, his budget got about 200 more votes in the house and 30 more votes in the senate than obamas budget did

41 more votes in the Senate. At least it was a budget. Something we haven't seen in 4 years. How can anyone who is going to vote to put the Joker in Chief back in the White House justify spend spend spend with no budget?

Agreed. It's has become about which of candidates can convince the herd of clowns in congress to piss away the least my money buying votes.

Ryan is the first guy I've seen to remotely fit that bill, even though some of his party line voting has earned him some cynicism.

So if we elect one particular candidate, America will be ruined forever?

Sounds like every presidential election we've ever had.

One side has a prayer of ending talks about reduced deficits silliness and actually talk about accumulated debt. Deficits tal is esoteric horsecrap that gives DC cover to piss away piles and piles of cash. Hell, Ryan even talked about entitlements rollbacks publicly. Probably the first in a generation.

What's so horrible about being fake anyway? No human being can do the same crap every day (especially something as stressful as this) and still be legitimately enthusiastic about it whenever a camera is near.

Heck, I'd be less supportive of Romney right now if he actually believed what he was saying to pander to the audience. Finding a politican who is both honest and powerful just isn't that realistic.

Lawyers do it EVERY day. It is part of the job. You have to be that way to begin with to be effective at it. The thing about Romney is that he is giving the same message now that he started with. Nobama changes daily depending on who he is talking too.

Solid liberal talkin points. Well done.

Obamas hope is that everybody will forget the last 4 years and that his campaign can get death and other silliness to stick enough to win an election.

I ll give him credit where he is a terrible leader he is a great politician. Too bad for the country

Obama isn't a great anything but his wife's *****. David Axelrod is the genius behind the throne. Nobama has not the first thing to do with it. Axelrod recommends it, Jarrett approves it, Nobama does it. That is how this country has run for 3.5 years. Rather pathetic.

LG, sometimes I appreciate reading different points of view but do you honestly think that Obama cares to meaningfully reduce the debt? For all the warranted outcry over the expense of Iraq he spent nearly as much as his stimulus plan that thankfully did what he said and kept the unemployment rate under 8%....

While I do not agree with all parts of Ryans plan, he has at least put one forth. We can all agree the largest entitlement facing our country is Medicare. Adjustments have to be made but any attempt to do so is demonized. Obama has not even had his budget passed in three years, and before you complain about partisan republicans he had a supermajority for the first two years. I am no fan of Romney at all, but I like Paul the best of the four.

Can you at least put partisanship behind and admit he is a better VP than Joe Biden?

WHAT????????? WTF foreign country to do you live in. The unemployment rate hasn't been under 8% in YEARS. When you add in those that have run out of UE benefits and those that are underemployed, the rate is closer to 18% than 8%. Get your head out of the sand and make your decision based on Socialism vs Capitalism. That is the only choice this fall.

He's like a presidential Ron Burgundy. Just reads whatever they put on the TelePrompTer

I am in the same boat as you. Although currently underemployed, I have hope that things will change with a fiscally conservative administration. My wife fortunately makes enough to keep us afloat. The biggest wealth barrier right now for EVERYONE in this country is the debt. Until that is under control, we will see nothing but worsening conditions for the middle class. The Dems are now floating a plan for a "nationalized" retirement system that will pull ALL 401K's under the Federal umbrella. You can kiss that money good bye. The middle class (i.e. net tax payers) and seniors are going to see a HUGE tax increase next year thanks to Socialized Medicine. The Joker in Chief's plan pulls nearly a trillion OUT of Medicare spending February of next year. If you are going on medicare in the next 3 or 4 years, you better get your current doctor to assure you he is going to keep you on his patient list. There are very few Dr's that are taking new medicare patients now. The only thing that will happen in the next 4 years is the middle class will shrink, but not in the good direction. Up until about 2007, the middle class was shrinking and the "lower" class (I hate that term but it has to be used) was remaining basically the same or shrinking slightly....so where was the middle class going? That has been reversed, as planned, with this administration.

You screw yourself. It is not the governments job to provide opportunities to you.

It was a backhanded joke at Obama. I have forgotten more about economics than you will ever know.

Lulz @ the notion Romney has a backbone with a clear, consistent, and cohesive message.

Ummm....You have first hand knowledge of this?

CNN = Communist News Network
ABC = Always Been Communist
CBS = Communist Broadcasting System

Might was well quote a Quinnipac poll. CNN polls are like quoting Bleacher Report.

Lulz @ any of them being communist. I ought to read up on communism.

One is pro-government and the other is pro-business. Neither are pro free market.
