Romney's VP pick

I am in the same boat as you. Although currently underemployed, I have hope that things will change with a fiscally conservative administration. My wife fortunately makes enough to keep us afloat. The biggest wealth barrier right now for EVERYONE in this country is the debt. Until that is under control, we will see nothing but worsening conditions for the middle class. The Dems are now floating a plan for a "nationalized" retirement system that will pull ALL 401K's under the Federal umbrella. You can kiss that money good bye. The middle class (i.e. net tax payers) and seniors are going to see a HUGE tax increase next year thanks to Socialized Medicine. The Joker in Chief's plan pulls nearly a trillion OUT of Medicare spending February of next year. If you are going on medicare in the next 3 or 4 years, you better get your current doctor to assure you he is going to keep you on his patient list. There are very few Dr's that are taking new medicare patients now. The only thing that will happen in the next 4 years is the middle class will shrink, but not in the good direction. Up until about 2007, the middle class was shrinking and the "lower" class (I hate that term but it has to be used) was remaining basically the same or shrinking slightly....so where was the middle class going? That has been reversed, as planned, with this administration.

Wait, I thought you were just b*tching about Obama and the national debt and how he wasn't addressing the crisis?

You screw yourself. It is not the governments job to provide opportunities to you.

What I'm referring to is the blatant vote buying at both ends of the economic spectrum. Whether it is in the form of lobby's or government programs doled out like candy. The end result is everyone in the middle isn't truly considered when it comes to policy decisions.

So I guess your saying it is my responsibility to get in on the vote buying to create opportunities for myself?

Gimme a break.

No not vote buying. Americans are such sheep believing the only way to security is through a job. Get out there and create something for yourself.

I appreciate your view points. However, I get the feel that you never give anyone a fair chance except those with no shot of winning with limited public records. It's almost egotistical coming from the "liberty" crew and it feels as though you just say it to stand out.

Uh oh . . . You must hate freedom.

Thanks for posting that.

The poll you sited is misleading. You need to read the question that was posed in that survey.

What's misleading about it? Seniors prefer Ryans plan to Obama. And unlike all the polls you think indicate overwhelming support for Obama, this one falls outside the margin of error

Not sure I follow.

Create what for myself, if not a job?

Alot of this rhetoric sounds good on paper, but then disappears like a fart in a windstorm when reality sets in.

It seems those posters I mentioned earlier have decided to make La-La Land their permanent residence, and they brought some friends.

Is TNGlen a relative of McCarthy? Because it sounds as though he too has little to no understanding of Communism, Socialism, and thevery thought that Capitalism CAN run wild.

Sounds like a job to me.

And besides, everyone can't be an entrepeneur. People still need to pay other people to do stuff.

Like I said, fart in a windstorm.

Of course it's a job . . . but it's one that you created yourself.

And if you've got a lawnmower, you can be an entrepreneur. It might not be ideal, but it beats not having a paycheck.

Again, not understanding. I worked hard to get to where I could have a good job, support a family, retire, etc.

...and my original point is that I'm left out because I'm not poor and on government programs...or rich enough to have my interests lobbyied for directly in Washington.

This nebulus "create your own opportunity" rhetoric is silly when it comes to the real world. The curse of the middle class is real. I created my own "opportunity", played by the rules, and I don't feel (along with many others I would suspect) we are adequately represented in government.

i know this sounds Pollyanna, but aren't you only cursed to the extent that you'll let yourself be cursed? I.e. people that don't like their lot in life check out of the process and ensure that their view never changes.

Personally, I'd be a lot happier if I could make 58,300 percent on, say, a $10,000 investment.

Tax free.

Like Romney and his Bain brethren.
