Not sure why he came back to the GOP. He should be honest about who he is and stick with the Libertarians.
didn't you just say that changing the GOP would take time?
the LP is already established and has a platform that lines up with Paul in almost every way, but he can't run as a Libertarian because, according to you, it would be too hard.
so it's "to hell with my principles, I want to be the candidate of a party I have nothing in common with and is actively trying to sabotage my candidacy"?
It would be too hard. But it's not like his principles are far from the traditional values of other GOP candidates of the past (Reagan or Goldwater).
Don't make it as though Ron Paul is that far away from the mainstream of the GOP on all issues. He basically has issues on 2 items: foreign policy and the FED.
if RP ends up running as a 3rd party candidate, it's going to be interesting to hear the verbal gymnastics used to justify that decision
It would still be an uphill battle because he probably will not be invited to any of the major debates in late September-October. So don't make it out as though his supporters think the Libertarian option is going to be much better.according to you, he can't run as a Libertarian because the two-party system is too entrenched, but he has an awesome chance as a 3rd party candidate?
btw, here is the Libertarian Party's platform:
