Rotation for 2012-2013 season...

Welcome and enjoy your time here!

Piece of advice, don't have thin skin on here, and don't take anything personal. If you do that you'll be fine.

If that happens we'll consider you our good luck charm and give you instant bandwagon rights.

No doubt I would have to be considered the quintessential bandwagon jumper! LOL

In my defense though I am posting pre-season before the Vol's make their run into the top 10 this year.

You from CT? I was born there, lived there till about 12.

You're right about it being time for Calhoun to go though, time to pass the reigns to Ollie.

I was born and raised in Connecticut. Have lived in NYC/UES for many years. Thinking of relocating again soon. Calhoun wants the reigns passed to Ollie. He uses various tactics to try and give himself leverage with the new AD and President on that issue.

Where in CT? Nice to meet you bro.

Yea JC has been setting up Ollie for the job for a few years now.

Lived in Chester, and Middletown.

Thanks for the advise and well wishes! I expect bullets to be flying right over my head all season! With a handle like UConnbasketball I wouldn't expect otherwise.

I just love the game though and really follow all the teams closely. Thinking objectively this year should be very special for the Vol's or I wouldn't have posted.

Call me a bandwaggoner, but Kemba Walker is one of my favorite players, even now.

Loved Kemba for his incredible leadership. Walker had "it" as a college player. My team is banned and I'm dying for the season to start. Just looking for a nice team with tremendous upside but a little under the radar to root for. Tennessee fits that description.

Khalid El-Amin was one of my favorite players growing up.

Khalid had that swag!

It is always interesting watching players who find the perfect balance mentally to compete at the highest levels and lead teams to championships. El-Amin was just that as a college player.

Sometimes it is inherant but great leaders can emerge from unexpected sources. There is alot of intrigue with this Vol's team.

Prediction May 5th
PG: Trae Golden 30/ Richardson 10
SG: Jordan McRae 20/ mcbee 15/ josh 5
SF: D'montre Edwards 30/ Mcrae 10
F: Jarnell Stokes 30/ maymon 10
F: Jeronne Maymom 20/ Kenny 15/ yemi 5

changes I'd make today....

PG: Trae Golden 30/ Armani Moore 10
SG: Skylar Mcbee 15/ Josh Richardson 15/ Jordan McRae 10
SF: Jordan McRae 15/ D'montre Edwards 25
F: Jarnell Stokes 30/ Jeronne Maymon 10
F: Jeronne Maymon 20/ Kenny Hall 20

Thought about this today:

PG- Golden 30/Moore 10
SG- McRae 25/ McBee 15
SF- Edwards 20/Richardson 20
PF- Maymon 30/Hall 10
C- Stokes 30/Yemi 10

I like the McRae/Edwards combo starting at the 2/3, I'm just not sold yet that CCM is gonna bring mcbee off the bench. I agree on the minutes, about 15 for mcbee, just wonder if CCM gives him that from a starting role or if he moves Edwards up to a starter.

The only two things id say is I think Edwards gets more than 20 minutes, and we know CCM goes 8 or 9 guys, so I don't see him going 10 as you have.

You think Yemi and Stokes will spit time? Or is that 10 minutes each a product of Hall being back in the dog house and Yemi getting his minutes some games? You think Q basically sits another year?

Yeah, there might be more value in bringing Edwards off the bench to lessen the drop off in rebounding among bench players. Maymon and Stokes will clean the glass for the starting five. Yemi and Edwards would fill that role nicely for the bench.

Personally, I like Q, but when it's broke down I just have trouble finding him minutes.

Any thoughts?

That's a great point as well, Edwards could very well lead this team in rebounds IMO if he gets 25+ minutes. Very impressive rebounder.

Between our posts and Edwards, we should own the glass and be one of the better offensive and defensive rebounding teams in the country.

Q may not be a regular rotation player, but he'll get minutes one way or another. He's only an injury or favorable matchup away from seeing significant minutes in a game to game situation.

Yea hell obviously average minutes, he won't average 0.0, nobody does. Hell see time in slaughter games, and maybe a few games with major foul trouble for a few minutes. These rotations are on a consistent basis though I think, I mean, averaging more than 5-10 minutes a game atleast.

Q will probably see time in about 15 games, and will probably end the year averaging around 8-10 minutes a game, but I wouldn't include him in my rotation at this point.

I think CCM will have an idea of who gets what minutes by the time they leave for Puerto Rico and the tournament will act as an open audition for minutes at the 2-3 spots plus a chance for Moore to show he can handle the back-up PG.

Based on some tweets of Quinn's I am leaning towards McBee and McRae starting at the wings, at least early in the season, as that gets 5 guys that know the offense and can score in the floor to start. Then Richardson, Q and Edwards fight it out for the backup minutes. If Q is as good as some say I could honestly see Richardson being the odd man.

This is assuming Moore continues to impress at the PG spot. If he doesn't then obviously his minutes get divided somehow between McBee, Josh and McRae.

Yea that's basically the rotation I drew up yesterday...

Golden 30/ Moore 10
Mcbee 15/Richardson 15/ McRae 10
McRae 15/Edwards 25
Stokes 30/maymon 10
Maymon 20/ hall 20

That's obviously without Q, I like your thought and if that happens it could be...

Golden 30/ Moore 10
Mcbee 15/ McRae 25
Edwards 25/ Q 15
Stokes 30/ maymon 10
Maymon 20/Hall 20

This brings up a good question. When you post your predicted rotations are you trying to predict what the numbers will look at the end of the season (basically season averages) or are you trying to predict what the minutes might look like for a typical SEC or important OOC game? Season averages will be skewed by injury and mop up minutes. Whereas in games vs Florida, UK and Bama , CCM is going to bring the big guns for as long as they can go.

More your consistent game to game, not season averages, because like you said those numbers will be skewed a bit. Kind of a blend between the two I guess, because it's also likely that huge games golden maymon stokes may see 32-34 minutes.

Okay. That's about what I figured for that. And yeah I expect Golden, Stokes and Maymon to pull big minutes in the big matchups too. And then whoever has the best matchup/is hot gets the minutes at wing. For instance, while I am a pretty big McBee homer, I could see his minutes against Memphis being a season low. They are so freakishly athletic all over the floor that it's possible that McBee just can't get an open look. In that scenario CCM may just decide to go with his own athletes and limit McBee's minutes. Conversely, I expect anyone that tries to jump into a 2-3 zone to get a full 30 minutes of McBee.

Way to generous on Hall.
I think he'll lose his spot before we go into the Con. schedule.
All the potential in the world but his attitude will keep him from ever becoming a consistent contributor.
Just a lazy kid.

It'll either be hall or yemi getting the minutes IMO. CCM isn't gonna go 10 or 11 deep so I don't see those guys both getting major minutes, so if Kenny is in the doghouse likely yemi get the 15-20 minutes behind stokes and maymon, and I'm fine with that.
