Rumor: Chris Peterson Approached by UF

Just had a buddy email me this.... Pretty sure it's false-

"Tim Tebow continues to lobby the Bronco's Brass to get Urban Meyer on the team's coaching Staff as Offensive Coordinator, and perhaps having responsibility for Special Teams. Sources close to the situation think Meyer is leaning towards making the jump to the NFL sooner than later, and reuniting with Tebow is something that Meyer apparently has expressed a lot of interest in..." I had him confused with a different Mormon coach. He has been rumored to be a Scientologist but that has been shot down.

I would be happy to see him at UF.

UF won't hire Peterson...they'll go for someone from the pros or someone from the system...(Doc Holiday would get the job before Peterson lol). Only reason Urban got the job was because of Foley. I would love for Gruden to take the job but his job is TOO gravy to leave for a college gig.

Why wouldn't they?

Plus the whole never leaving Tampa thing.

I think they'll go after Peterson and get him, and then we will have to put up with that crap...

I'm hoping his wife would convince him not to coach at a school that rivals Tennessee.

Lightning won't strike twice....Meyer was at best third choice for the gig but his past relationship with Foley got him hired after Stoops and Mike said no.

Stoops and Shannahan said "no" after Spurrier left, and Florida got stuck with Ron Zook. When they fired Zook, Meyer was the only guy they went after.

First off, we only went after Meyer after Zook was fired. Secondly, why exactly would we need lightning to strike? Petersen is a damn good coach, and has taken a team second tier talent and made them a legitimate threat on the national scene. He already has two undefeated seasons, and he's working on his third. There aren't too many programs who don't have Petersen on their short list of coaches.

Believe what you like about Peterson but we offered Stoops the job after we fired Zook. Better yet just email Terry Jackson about the matter. He got the news about Stoops turning us down again before Meyer because of the possible PR backlash about the hire of Meyer. No one outside of Foley wanted Meyer it just happened to work out for the best. And Before you go question something that I may have some inside info about just know my family have known the Jackson's for almost 20 years so I trust him when he speak about UF.

I was the only person on here that thought urban was a good hire when it happened. He got tebow but two national championships is what it is.

Well I wasn't on here for the hire, but have maintained from day one he'd be very good.

Didn't think Urbie would win 2 national titles in 3 years there, but I thought he'd do just fine.

This doesn't surprise me. The "experts" on here dog almost every coach and look like geniuses to themselves when said coach fails because only one coach truly wins every year. If you defend a coach, the retort is always, "how many championships has he won?". If it has been greater than five years then said coach is a hack and the game has passed him by. AND I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT DEFENDING FULMER.

By the way, Urbie sucks and the game has passed him by and he owes all his success to Tebow.

I never thought Meyer would have the success he has had, but he was never a questionable hire.

He's a good coach and he seems a lot more motivated than Spurrier ever was. I think if you don't introduce Saban to the equation, he'd have ended up one of the SEC's best ever.

Chris Peterson is 54-4 as a head coach. Enough said.

Stoops was never leaving Oklahoma and he probably never will. I do believe he's used the Gators to get a pay raise out of Oklahoma, but that's about it.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty positive Meyer was our first choice.
