Rumor out of Columbia Muschamp is out [Confirmed]

Sorry guys, but Pruitt is not going anywhere he will get at least 2 more years and if Bailey and Salter can get some play time early he may just pull it off and turn Tennessee around. He really screwed up with the whole JG thing and not developing the new guys sooner. If they were that bad he should have been all over a grad transfer to get us by short term.

My money is on Harrison Bailey, I think the kid can be a great one but he has to get some play time and not after we are down by 50. We have had about 4 weeks now with the virus, that Bailey could have picked up a lot of experience with the first team, we will see what happens but Pruitt is so damn stubborn he might just stick with JG.

Muschamp’s buyout is 13 to 15m. If they do fire him it will revise by opinion that Pruitt is untouchable because of his buyout clause.

Why the hell would South Carolina want to be on the hook for buyout money if UT fires him? It doesn't work that way, i don't know what else to tell you.
Example: South Carolina owes him 12 million over the next 3 years in a buyout. Tennessee hires him as DC for 1 million over 3 years. South Carolina now owes him 9 million and Tennessee owes him 3 million. Muschamp makes 12 million either way. If Tennessee fires him after 1 year with 2 years of buyout on the contract, South Carolina owes him 9 million and Tennessee owes him 3 million. Muschamp pockets 12 million. If he signs that contract with Tennessee with no buyout guarantee and they fire him after 1 year, South Carolina owes him 11 million and Tennessee 1 million. In all cases, he gets 12 million dollars. He has no advantage in including a buyout in any part of a contract that runs parallel with his buyout term. That is how it works. I don't know what else to tell you.

We’ll see how big Fulmer’s ego is now. SC firing Muschamp is a worse case scenario, if there is a big buyout it puts UTAD squarely in the corner of not firing for stubbornness rather than financial reasons.

Everyone who keeps saying NO WAY it will happen let this timeline play out, see what you think.

Auburn - Blow out loss
Vandy - Close win or loss
Florida - Blow out loss
TX A&M Blow out loss

I don’t care what any insider tells me, you go 3-7 or 2-8 ANYTHING is on the table.

Again, Will Muschamp is not signing a contract at UT without a buyout. He will sign a completely new contract with UT and South Carolina holds no bearing on that. To your other point, much like Pruitt I don't believe Muschamps buyout is mitigated by new employment. Pruitt is owed 60% of his salary regardless of a new job at another school, I'm pretty sure Muschamps contract is similar and is not offset by a new salary.

Because every coach knows what they're walking into here, regardless of their previous situation they're going to want securities. UT is going to have to give 3 year deals to assistants coming in.
If he’s a Sexton client, every dime is a bonus. Security won’t be an issue...opportunity will override.

How can they afford to fire a coach but we can't?

Before you say Butch buyout, those payments end early next year and we generate 8 figures more revenue annually...
Great question and a valid point on Butch’s contract.
My take is, (1) we have an Athletics Dept. that spends money like a teenager’s first paycheck. Our money is allocated/gone as soon as it comes in.
(2) Latest figures I can find, we have only $11M (ish) in reserves (probs lt less by now), and that’s higher than we’ve had many times over the last 10 years. (3) We are estimated to operate at a 40M deficit this year. (4) Thanks to Fulmer, we owe Pruitt the full $13M, no mitigation. (5) This will be the 3rd time in 8 years we’ve gone to mega-boosters asking for a mega-bailout. Late 2020 is a bad time to ask for money, no matter how rich the donor.

I guess that’s a long way of saying, SC probably manages their money and their coaches contracts better than us.

You’re wrong.
As you just mentioned above, Sexton is going to get every dime he can.

He's going to take will parting gift of 13 mil from SC, UT would pay Will someone where in the market of 2 mil per year. Now in that contract will be some verbiage that UT will owe Will money should he be fired. Go look at his Auburn contract after he was fired from Florida

If he signs a 3 year deal with UT, with new terms and we fire Pruitt then yes that will be UTs issue
He’ll just want to work if he hires on anywhere short term. I’m not sure where you’re getting this 3 year narrative.

How much did Sexton get from Bama for Butch?
