Rumor: TN with recruiting violations

I find it hard to believe that any major school would be stupid enough to commit such an obvious recruiting infraction so I don't buy it...

the new article on D.T. Shackleford also says they ran out of the tunnel w/ real players... i mean is that not simulating a gameday experience? or is that showing them the facilities :ermm:

yea I just read that article too on Rivals...."One of the nicest moments was when we come out of the tunnel," Shackelford said. "We ran out with some of the real players and it was nice."

Does this fall under the "simulating game-day experience" category?

As long as we are not losing scholarships or losing bowl eligibility does it really matter?

It also says stuff about running thru the tunnel with Jerseys on in Kevin Revis's latest article on volquest.

"The basketball game was cool," Revis said. "Coach Kiffin took us in the locker room and they had jersey's for us to put on and we ran out like it was real game. We all took a picture together with the our jersey on. It was a great experience."

per volquest

From reading that I dont think they gave them the jerseys or had their names on them. Just let them wear them. The question is... Is running out of the tunnel with actual players considered a gameday experience??? I mean they had to get into the stadium somehow to see it and what better way for some of the recruits to behold the stadium then thru running out of the tunnel. I doubt there was sound coming over the speakers to simulate the noise of game day. So strike that aspect. and there def werent any fans. strike that aspect. So how does this become a violation? Im sure the players they ran out with were the ones that were escorting the recruits so its not like they went out of their way to get them.

Fellas, A "game day" experience would be running through the T with the team on "GAME DAY".....

simply sitting in the locker room would be "simulating game-day experience", wouldn't it?

13.6.7.9 Activities.

An institution may not arrange miscellaneous, personalized recruiting aids (e.g., personalized jerseys, personalized audio/video scoreboard presentations) and may not permit a prospective student-athlete to engage in any game-day simulations (e.g., running onto the field with the team during pre-game introductions) during an official visit. Personalized recruiting aids include any decorative items and special additions to any location the prospective student-athlete will visit (e.g., hotel room, locker room, coach's office, conference room, arena) regardless of whether or not the items include the prospective student-athlete's name or picture. I'm not gonna worry about this. We have VERY experienced recruiters that have done this for years. I'm sure they know what they are doing. This isn't thier first rodeo and they wouldn't do something if they weren't sure that it would cause no violations.

Also notice under the NCAA link that there are 0 (zero) major violations in this category.....

I guarantee Mike Hamilton would step in if this were an issue!!!

I hate posting to this thread, further giving it legs, but doesn't UT have a compliance officer? I'm almost positive they do. I'm also pretty confident that whatever they were doing with the recruits, they probably ran it by the CO just so their arses were covered. Just my $.02.

new Rivals article on Revis---

"Coach Kiffin took us in the locker room and they had jersey's for us to put on and we ran out like it was real game. We all took a picture together with the our jersey on. It was a great experience."

If they don't have names on the jerseys, I don't think there's any problem.

TN already has a target on its back with the hiring of Kiffin and all the recruiting buzz, he isn't going to arrogantly break the rules.

This rumor is all about scared rivals and nothing more.

Let's see the pictures that were taken. No pictures means no evidence and just heresay from recruits.

new Scout article on Brandon Moore after his trip to Tuscaloosa---

Scout.com: Brandon Moore knows college destination

"We went to the stadium Saturday night. We put the jerseys on and went outside. It was fun going out there and playing around. We ran out there and acted like we played for Alabama."

we all know Alabama fans started the rumor and they do the same thing---jerseys and time on the field. you just can't have your name on the back.

"We went to coach Saban’s house for breakfast today. We ate good. We rode on the four-wheelers and played pool. His house is pretty big. He has a lot land on a nice lake with a couple boats."

sounds a lot like Neverland Ranch...

Just throw in some Jesus Juice and you're there.

Actually the rumor started on a Gator board, I think.

What's clear here is that Kiffin and co. know the rules and they will be using everything at their disposal short of breaking them to get these recruits to sign with Tennessee. He is coming up against the wall, but he isn't crossing it.
